You seem to be missing the point. There were many innocent children who died under the BIden regime because of improper conduct by government employees. How much money was diverted away from good programs or pocketed we don't know. Now while USAID is being shut down, the responsibilities are being merged into the State Department. This should not be too difficult because there is a LOT of parallel in offices. The idea is to get the money allocated just as the people, through their representatives in Congress, want it to be allocated. The political corruption and graft needs to end.
You seem to be missing the point. USAID does a lot of good in terms of disease prevention, and providing access to clear water and food for heavily impoverished regions. We'll see how much damage is done to these programs, and let us hope that millions do not die as a result.

Some here seem to get it while others still defend the existence of USAID. The system is broken and needs to be replaced. Legitimate aid can still flow through other agencies no one wants starving children but the past corruption cannot be allowed to stand just by claiming one child may die. The US is still the largest supporter of less fortunate people but USAID has FAILED in its intended mission. Let the state department handle this .

With all due respect I believe you are missing the point. Other agencies with oversight can fill legitimate needs. USAID has proved to be corrupt and needs to disappear. Doing one good deed while also doing 2 bad ones is no longer acceptable.

Everyone needs to chip in. Every non-impoverished government, business, group etc around the world. This shouldn't be something that stands or falls upon only one government program from only one nation.

What other agencies? Or are you imagining things?

That's a fair thought, but as it stands, the US is a major funder of these programs. And it's merely an assumption that other nations would fill our void, or even could.

There needs to be balance. The US can no longer carry the weight of most of the world on its shoulders. There's too many areas in the US now that are experiencing third world conditions.

This isn't a legitimate reason to pull programs in which millions would die without. As many have pointed out, these projects account for a small fraction of a single percentage of the US budget.

. If a single innocent child in Africa dies as a product of all this, people will have to answer to God for this.
Please stop invoking God as a reason for keeping the status quo. God does not need, sanction or bless corruption as a vehicle to help His people. You don’t think God is turning a blind eye to evil because some good was done do you?

From Rubio. Stay up with the news.
Is there any actual information about this other than just a verbal comment?

People say lots of things about all sorts of topics. There is a big difference between speaking and actually doing.

God is watching, as these programs that provide clean drinking water, food, polio and malaria vaccines, among other things, are abruptly ended.

People have imaginary ideas about some other agency magically just assuming all this additional work (without hiring staff to handle it?). And yet, we don't see evidence of these programs continuing.

Where is the state department here?^

Transitions take time. No one claims there will not be bumps. This rogue organization has shunned oversight for far too long and is now be held to account. If one child dies in the transition it is the fault of USAID for thinking they could do as they willed with taxpayer money while not being accountable to anyone. God is not dependent on USAID.

Yes, they do take time.

And you know what doesn't take time? People starving because they don't have food or clean water. Or dying of disease where vaccines are not available.

Like I said, let us hope that this doesn't turn into a humanitarian disaster. As of right now, the state department is in no position to assume these programs, and the clock is ticking.

Now if the Trump administration decides to keep USAID staff, move them into the state department and just call them by a different name, that's fine. It would be a change by name only, in essence. But otherwise, it's not clear how the state department is going to assume all of these new projects. With the hiring freeze, they aren't even able to hire new staff to do so.

If millions in another country are totally dependent on the US alone, the system is broken and needs to be fixed. And that's what the function of DOGE is, fixing the system. Whereas its function is not to kill millions of people. As hard as that might be for some people to accept.

It's fine to fix a broken system. But if it results in the deaths of the innocent, then it's obviously not a reasonable approach.

If the Trump administration wants to take USAID staff, move those staff under a new agency and give them a different name, but otherwise retain programs in which people are dependent, then I don't see people complaining about that. However, as of right now, it's not clear that this is the administration's interest.

The state department doesn't have the staff for these programs. You can't just lay off 15,000 people and hope that their projects will magically just get picked up by some other people in another agency.

You seem to imply USAID’s primary mission is saving babies when way to many tax payer dollars are spent on transgender and like programs I assure God is most definitely watching.
