Does the Bible address the concept of Evolution?

"Who wrote the Bible" is a question that can be definitively answered by examining the bible texts 2 Timothy 3:16 states that "All scripture is inspired by God…." In 2 Peter 1:20-21, Peter reminds the reader to "know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, … but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." The Bible itself tells us that it is God who is the author of His book.

2 TIMOTHY 3:16 "All Scriptures is God Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,correcting and training the righteousness."

2 PETER 1:20 "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation."

Joshua 1:8"Do not let this Book of the law depart from your mouth,meditate on it day and night,so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.Then you will be prosperous and successful."

On the contrary, I'm not saying Genesis 1 and John 3:16 are different, but that they are the same; that is, they are both vitally important theological statements. And neither is science.

There is nothing "just" about metaphor.

So. First of all, inspired by God does not mean dictated by God. Secondly, as my sig line suggests, I regard Genesis 1 as an enormously useful and important text. Realising that it isn't science does not diminish its truth or importance one iota.

But one still has to decide what we are supposed to learn from a text. Genesis 1 is about our relationship with God and creation, which is far more important than a science lesson.

We ALL read the Bible through cultural lenses and with a background knowledge already established. We need to CHECK how we read it by comparing it to reality. If the 2 don't match, we are reading it incorrectly.

Science textbooks are made by men, but all of creation isn't. If the evidence is in creation, then it comes down to the creation vs. the theology, not the scripture itself, which we accept to be true, but man made theology, the kind that trys to interpert the scripture. So what would you go on, God's creation or your own?
