You've got to feel sorry for God. On the one hand He's expected to lie through His teeth through creation. On the other hand He's not allowed to use some much as a metaphor to illustrate a point in a book. How is He supposed to teach us anything?
So what does He do to. "I know, I'll chuck a few contradictions into the book, then they'll have to engage their brains and think about the stuff they are reading." Does it work - no people just define the Bible to not have any contraditions, so anything no matter how much it looks like a contradition isn't, and carry on simply regurgitating the text without it going anywhere near any processing in the brain. And if anyone does dare to think about any of it, He's roundly condemned for not taking God at His word.
Any school teacher knows you can write pages of gobbledegook on the board and the kids will happly copy it all down without once questioning the fact that it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. That must be how God feels a lot of the time.
