That passage shows Mary was a Virgin right up to when she gave birth. There is no mention of after she gave birth. Matthew really did not know Mary. It was Luke that spent a lot of time listening to Mary to hear the stories that she would tell people.What about this passage?
Matthew 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
Luke 1:3 "It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,"
A lot of what we know about Joseph and Mary comes from apocryphal literature. They are accepted by the Catholic church but not as widely accepted in the protestant churches.
