in the book of genesis. I remember a person commented somethin about it referrin to night.

Hi Sam. It's the complete opposite.

It refers to "daybreak", the "dawning" of a new day, "morning".

God bless you :)

There are only 2 mentions of "dawn" in Genesis:

Genesis 19:15
When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.”

Genesis 32:26
Then he said, “Let me go, for the dawn is breaking.” But he said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

Both refer to sunrise.

One person said somethin about night not bein night.

What person said this strange contradictory thing to you? AFAIK night is night.

Out of pure curiosity I would like to know , Why does your g seem to work in the word night but not elsewhere?

In some translations what you are referring to may be that a new day dawning begins at sunset, all through Scripture, since creation,
very different from western thought (and maybe from greek ways of thinking also).

English and greek and western ways of thinking and speaking and writing and so forth is often very different from Yahweh's meaning in His Word (i.e. The meaning in Scripture).

The Father in Heaven is exceedingly and extravagantly generous and joyous to reveal this, to reveal everything about Salvation concerning this life and the life to come,
to little children trusting Him and relying on Him.

One person said somethin about night not bein night.

Perhaps what he was saying was that in Jewish reckoning a day goes from evening to evening, based on the creation account 'and there was evening and there was morning, the Xth day.'

That is not to say that DAYLIGHT begins in the evening. That would be crazy.

Again why ? Your posts simply stir up to muddy the waters it seems, and some other posts do not clarify either.

I'm sorry. I find your post confusing, Jeff.

So read the OP already ....

Someone was telling Sam that "dawn" meant night.
He was asking for more information to clear it up in his mind.
