To be honest, I was watching the MSNBC coverage during that exchange, and I came away not knowing exactly what point Matthews was trying to make about Bachmann being "hypnotized". It came out of left field.

The whole premise of the question was built upon a lie!I was wondering if the transcript on the link was complete. Your post makes me thing it was.
I watch a bit of football. Watch a couple of games and you are almost sure to hear the anouncers comment in some way that a running back has to be patient, he has to wait for and setup blocks.
Matthews blew it, not in hte line, but in not being patient. He did not wait for the hole to open. He asked once about the investigation. She gave an answer that was totally unrelated to the question. Outside of politics her reply would be considered either rude or stupid. In politics it is considered standard.
He needed to ask again, and then a third time when he should have included a comment proding her to answer the question he asked.
And then if she still came with an answer that was totally unreleted, then he could have used his hyponitized line.
He was far to eager to use his line.
She outsmarted him. Deal with it.
So no answering questions is now considered outsmarting?
It's so ironic that these far right people love to scream and shout about how they're not typical politicians and are for the people and blah blah blah. Well she just showed she's a typical politician. Instead of answering the question, she ignored it.
Just once I'd like to see a politician not regurgitate some talking point and actually answer a question such as this.
Mathews was trying to get her flustered (like last time) so he'd get a good sound bite.
She stayed on what she wanted to say and he had to go long to try a shake her up, it didn't work and there he is looking a bit silly.
He'll get the boot too (a la Obermann) once the deal with comcast is all said and done.
(If ComcastMSNBC still wants a loony leftie, I hear Alan Grayson will be looking for work soon.)
MADDOW: Can we talk for a second about what they're trying to do there? With that sign they're trying to say MSNBC is in the tank and NBC is in the tank for Obama. That's what they're trying to say.

Does Chris Matthews owe Michele Bachmann an apology?
I am so sick of politicians playing word games. If they are not going to answer the questions asked about what they said BEFORE the election then they are just playing games.
Matthews or any person asking a politician about what they said and then trying to get an answer is doing the voters a favor. At least Matthews lets everybody know what kind of show he has and sticks with his tough questions. After all the politicians know that his show is called HARDBALL!
Matthews is irritating at times but I am more irritated by politicians that avoid addressing their words and promises. Remember what Harry Truman said, “If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen” If a politician can not stand the heat of some one asking them to answer a question about their own words then they need to get out of politics.

Obviously. it does not matter to you if what Chris said was true or not.
Quote of Chris MATTHEWS:
Will you use the subpoena power which you will have as a majority, if you claim the majority of the Congress, it looks like you will, will you use the subpoena power to do what you said on my program you would do, investigate the Democratic members of Congress for un-American activities?
So true.Holding Matthews to normal standards of decency amounts to unreasonable expectations.
They're not? What is un-American about them?Michele Bachmann is anti-American.
She wants to phase out Social Security and Medicare.
She doesn't want America to be part of the "international global economy" (when every economist in the world recognizes that protectionism spells death to the economic growth of a nation.)
She doesn't rule out the possibility of preemptive nuclear strikes against the Middle East.
She favors domestic oil and gas drilling without the environmental protections to keep it from destroying our environment.
These are not American positions.
They're not? What is un-American about them?
