Maybe I'm going through my mid life crisis early or something but lately I have been thinking alot about my early childhood and longing for things to be the way they were back then when life was just so simple and we didn't have a care in the world. It wasn't all hustle and bustle and stressed out like today's world is.

I remember back then we lived in a small little country town called Sunny Side,GA. and you knew all your neighbors by first name. We lived on a little old dirt road and everyone on our road was like one big family and it wasn't uncommon for us to eat supper and at neighbors house or for them to treat us like their own kids and vice versa. The whole street would pile into the back of someones pickup truck and drive to the nearest lake or park but today you'd probably be given a ticket for doing that same thing that we used to do without even thinking about it. We had campfires and cookouts almost on a daily basis and come winter time everyone on our little dirt road would get together and we'd chop trees for firewood and then divide it up between all the different families. I vividly remember everyone getting together to help one person or the other when they needed help be it fixing up their house or just any little thing and we didn't charge each other for our time or gas we took comfort in knowing we helped someone who couldn't help themselves and pride in a hard days work.

Back in the old days you had Coke and Pepsi that was it you didn't have 20 different flavores to choose from like you do today. We'd have just rather sit on the porch talking or playing out in the woods than playing video games or worrying about who was going to be kicked off Survivor or Big Brother this week.

I drive by that once little town of Sunny Side,Ga. quite regularly these days as my mom has moved back there and the little dirt road I once lived on is now paved and the miles and miles of woods we used to play in have been bulldozed and multi-million dollar communities now stand in their place and the old friends that we once loved so much have now scattered to different parts of the state and life as we once knew it is no more.

You don't find that kind of comradery we all had anymore. In todays world nobody wants to talk to one another and neighbors put up huge fences to keep people from bothering them and people in general just don't seem to want anything to do with one another. Times have changed so much so quickly and for the worse I'm sad to say. I miss those old days so much but I find comfort in knowing that very soon our Father will be coming to take us back home to where life is simple and everyone knows everyone and has genuine care and concern for one another.

Hi there. I was just passing through while waiting on an e-mail reply.

You really are depressed right now; I know because I've been there. Know that it will pass and you are not alone in your feelings. Don't forget how difficult the 'good old days' can be as well, like the great depression of the 1930's. I believe this nation is headed for such a time again if we don't have more revival toward Christ.

Anyways, I'm 33 as well and I've gone through the same emotional rollercoaster you're going through and it will pass; Just hold on to your faith. At periods in our life faith is the only thread that holds us up. It will get better, just keep believing, serving others as best you can and of course, prayer.

God bless!
