• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

does anyone experiance this?

I feel as though my depression will never leave me. I go through periods where I feel really happy, but it always comes back; within a day, a week, a month; sometimes it can take a few months before I feel low enough to self harm, or have crisis help, but the depresiion never goes.

Yes, I go thru' periods like this too. I have been off my meds for almost 18 months now and these episodes are no where near as frequent as they used to be, so please be encouraged. I was wondering what meds you are on and if they need to be reviewed?

I'm not sure. I feel as though I have always been different from everyone else, and was bullied at school; at the beginning of school I made no friends and hated it. When I went to Secondary school (at 11) I was bullied was beiing a "gothic" and being "depressed" which of course made me even more depressed! Most the boys at school always hated me, as I was "ugly" and "fat"

When I was young my brother bullied me. Perhaps the bullying has something to do with it, i'm not really sure. I have always had little confidence, and felt like an outcast.

I have just gone through a bad patch in my life; making wrong decisions and sinning. Now I have to draw a line and leave it in the past. I have sinned due to rock bottom self esteem. But I have turned to God, and he has helped me. I would love to go to church weekly, but as I am not the "typical christian" (if there is such a thing) I am very nervous about it.

Life is still hard for me, but I am finding it better than before. Sadly, I cannot work, so spend my time mainly doing little, which causes lack of motivation.

So, I am planning on doing some volunteer work, as I care a lot about others!

I think it is great that you are thinking about voluntry work. I am sure you will be a blessing to a lot of people.

Just an idea: why not try making a list of things you would like to do, to aim at?

Blessings :)

thank you a lot for your advice! I have made a list of aims, but I shall do it again. I used to give myself goals for each day, small goals, as well as tasks to tick off; this motivated me. I also gave aims for each month. Perhaps I should do this again.

I desperately need to do exersize, as although I am vegan I am extremly out of shape, and exersize is proven to make one feel better. I am afraid of failure though, so tend to not to things incase I fail, which I know is silly. But I plan on going swimming a few times a week, and using my esersize bike daily, I just need to get myself motivated!
