• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

does anyone experiance this?

My depression seems to come in waves, like it will start to roll in...then get really bad...then will slowly leave....then later (few mins...or few years...) it will happpen again...

anyone else feel like this?

i know how that is. And sometimes it happens at the wrong times too...and when you least expect it.I am like that a lot. Last month, I was fine one day, then the next completely depressed(sometimes for no reason). I'll be like that for a few days, then without anything helping, I'd feel better.
Like others said, take things one step at a time. I've been doing that for the past few weeks and things havent been too bad.
I hope things get better! hopefully things will be less of a roller coaster for you.

thank you a lot for your advice! I have made a list of aims, but I shall do it again. I used to give myself goals for each day, small goals, as well as tasks to tick off; this motivated me. I also gave aims for each month. Perhaps I should do this again.

I desperately need to do exersize, as although I am vegan I am extremly out of shape, and exersize is proven to make one feel better. I am afraid of failure though, so tend to not to things incase I fail, which I know is silly. But I plan on going swimming a few times a week, and using my esersize bike daily, I just need to get myself motivated!
Please be careful not to overdo it. Depression can strike any day and wipe your schedule of the charts. I recommend you first make goals for each day as you go along, much less chance of failure.

God bless

Gerry

Yes I know what you mean. Sometimes i'll be fine for a few days or months even, and then I just sink into deep depression, but I come back out of it. Every once in a while I'll even have days where it'll happen rapidly throughout the day ... one minute I'll feel fine, the next I'll wish the roof would cave in on me.
