• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I seem to be falling apart. I get physical pains and have vertigo, IBS/colon polyps, and esophagus problems due to acid reflux.

I have seen the commercial "Depression Hurts" where they say physical things can come from depression. I am curious to know what you think.

Dear SaraB

I had so much physical pain that the ending of my life was all completed except for the FINAL act.

The ONLY thing that stopped me was GOD'S WORD were it says your not to take your own life:

" The Book of Wisdom

Chapter 1

12
Court not death by your erring way of life, nor draw to yourselves destruction by the works of your hands.
13
Because God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living. "

I had myself put behind locked doors at the mental care unit so I could not carry through.

That was the start of my recovery. It took time to find just the right meds after I got out but at least I was on my feet to do it.

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

“ Believe “ in Greek is a verb and has three components which are: hearing, accepting, and then acting ( COMMITING ) upon that which you have accepted.

X Even though you can't see him, GOD is there!!! O
( click on the x and drag to the O ) ( then see who is with you ) steven

I didn't even think of the headaches/migraines and backaches. I thought them to being a side effect of just being a mom of an active kid. lol

I am sure many people think that we are just depressed and don't want to get out of bed or leave the house when in reality, we can't.

Mental illness seems to take a toll exhaustion wise too.

I have no one that I can ask these things that has been there and done that, so thanks to everyone for their input. :)

Talking to you all is helping me realize I am not some ogre who is suffering alone from this.

I like that I can get feedback and find out what is the "norm" for bipolar people.

Thanks again.

Hi. I also have IBS and Acid reflux, which i assumed were consequences of bulimia, but could also be related to the stress i'm under due to having bipolar disorder as well. I also have a lot of physical pain quite similar to that of people with fibromyalgia. In my neck and back, above me knees and in my arms and hands. It also seems to be stress/BP symptom/sleep related. I've had this since before i was diagnosed with mental illness, and it has always been written off as nothing. They've done blood tests for lyme and other things and always just told me i should do yoga or something and that i'm just stressed out. Sometimes doctors don't make connections that seem so obvious to those of us with these things happening to us.

I'm glad peoples comments have helped reassure you, sara. Reading your post has done the same for me.
