It's mainly a term that Charismatics tend to draw upon. They take a few verses from the Old Testament, mainly those pertaining to Elijah and Elisha, and, through their own "reading" of the Bible, "apply it" to themselves and to their theology and ministries.

Some people are into Pokemon Go... others are into imagining themselves as biblical superheroes. One is alot less tainted by the stink of pride than the other.

It is literally kindling of antichrist. Jesus himself said whoever would be first, must be last, and whoever wants to be greatest... must be slave of all.

I thinks it's the outcome of the onset of science in the West that produced this sort of reading. Everyone wants empirical evidence.

Whether it's 'anti-christ' in nature or not, it remains to be seen. I suppose it could be. Or it might be a form of Laodicean mediocrity. Either way, it's a sad case. It's no wonder that the lion's share of those who throw in the towel on Christianity come from the more charismatic, Wesleyan line of church groups.
