Hey, I've got a problem, and I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I know it's not really the right place to ask, but I've had no luck anywhere else so far.
I'm having trouble installing this game. The manual says this:
To install TrackMania United insert the game DVD in your DVD-ROM and follow the instructions on the screen. If after inserting the DVD in your drive no window pops up, complete the following procedure: double-click on the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop, then double-click on the CD-ROM icon to start the installation and then follow the instructions of the Installation Program.
So, here's the problem: when I put the game in the DVD-ROM drive, nothing happens.

Every place I've asked so far, people say the DVD-ROM drive won't work because it's broken, and I can just use the DVD+RW instead. But they're clearly wrong. It says to use my DVD-ROM drive. If another drive would be okay, the manual would've said that. Unless, of course, the writer was lying, but that wouldn't make sense, since they would've just replaced him.

Everyone seems to think the manual means something other than what it says. The fools try to use the game itself as documentation. They hypocritically criticize the manual for being wrong when their own "documentation" is constantly being corrected (Blu-ray/DVD-ROM? What happened to DVD-R?). What makes them think they know better than the developers, anyway? The developers personally told the writer how to install the game, and I should think they would know.

So, can anyone tell me how to install the game without going against the manual's explicit instructions?

Why are you posting here? OH! You have trouble reading. This is the Creation vs. Evolution forum. The forum for the intellectually challenged is over in "Origins Theology".

The manual is only a guide, it's not meant to be taken literally,
it was written by people who know nothing about the installation of the game,
but there are lots of things you can try, try taking your computer apart to see how it works,
try the disc in another machine, take it back to the shop and ask them to try it in their machine,
if all else fails, use your brains, don't just believe what it says in the manual, good luck.

I didn't think it was that subtle. Oh, well.
(Hm, there's no  smilie...)

I thought it was obvious. ::shrug::

Especially when you got to this line

If another drive would be okay, the manual would've said that. Unless, of course, the writer was lying, but that wouldn't make sense, since they would've just replaced him.

I bet a lot of people didn't even read the entire thing.
