Wrong thread Merry

If you're not getting into trouble, you're not doing it properly

As long as I believe in a God right?

Reminds me of an American Dad episode, where Stan tries to make an atheist believe in God. At the end the atheist worships Satan, and Stan is like "well as long as you worship a higher power, then everything is ok."

Yeah, but I know I would never accept a loving version of Christianity. I like the harsh stuff, and I know I'll be overwhelmed by the emotions again.

Even to this day, I can't help but be filled with disgust when I see a "coexist" bumper sticker, or visit the liberal Christian forum section of this site.

I think cause it is all the matter of using the brain or the heart. Christianity is so simple, so many overthink it. Yes, it is okay to be passionate about Christ and want to live by the Word of God, but mercy and forgiveness is what Christ taught in the New Testament. We are free from the law. What harsh stuff about Christianity do you like that overwhelms you emotionally?

I can tell you the harsh reality of Christianity. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. He was beaten, tortured, bloodied, and put on a piece of wood to die...and He did this for us... All He wants for us is to believe Him on this, to trust in Him.

If not, the other harsh reality is Hell. not just a fire, but a dark fire.... burning forever and ever...

you talk of being overwhelmed by emotions... in Hell, you will eternally...

Yes, this is the scarey truth of the matter.... and this is why Christians do share so much what the Bible says. Because Meh, I only just met you and think you are funny, and smart, and unique. God loves you, whether you believe or not but He is also just.

That's what I did as a Christian, and it still landed me in trouble.

I still don't see how that isn't part of religion though.
religion is as James 1:27 puts it.. but to be spiritual you have to acknowledge that what paul writes is the commandments of the Lord

Our goak should not be to get into Heaven.

Our goal should be to love God and our neighbor and as result we might get into heaven.

a lot of my close friends believe this. But I believe our salvation is based on faith, not on works. True faith in God creates a desire to love our neighbor and to follow God's commands.

Like once you are born into a family, no matter what the child does, she isn't cast out. I believe God is that loving Father to us as well...its one of those subjects I've really had to think about. :D Both sides have such valid points, but what matters is trusting and loving God to begin with.

I 100% agree though that our goal shouldn't be to get into heaven but to love God!

Well, I've never mention anything about good physical acts.

I mentioned LOVE , Love which Lord commanded us to have towards the Lord and towards our neighbors.

Even Paul writes that, even if he has ALLL THE FAITH but no love he is NOTHING:

2 And if I have prophecies, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.
(LITV 1Co.13:2)

love is important , but the main purpose of this thread is to win people to Christ, and before you can truly love you must be born again, and that is a result of Jesus love for you on the cross, not of your love for him, because you hated him before you were saved but then when his love was shone on us then after we got saved we loved him, love is what we are suppose to do after we get saved though, and I think that once someone gets born again that a fruit of the spirit is love, and that they will love in return

By "being born again" do you mean merely a thought, idea or concept in your head that you mentally accept ?

By being born again I mean knowing God, but Bible teaches that these who do not Love DO NOT KNOW GOD, so...

How can you be born again if you do not know God ?

For Bible teaches US:

8 He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.
(AKJV 1Jn.4:8)

If we have no love, we do not KNOW GOD.
If we do not know God we can not be born again.

Love is ESSENTIAL in being born again NOT FAITH, even Paul writes about it, he puts love above ALL FAITH:

2 And if I have prophecies, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

apparently you don't know what being born again is, it's the act of initiation of knowing God , you don't know God until you are born again, you may know of him but you don't know him, but after your born again, you will love God first then the saints for we know we have passed from death to life because we love the brethren, love is how you know you have been born again because a result of being born again is love which happens after your born again
