Or to witness it happen which is what will happen to the resurrected and raptured saints who are taken to witness the battle of Armageddon happen.
I have been considering your point. I`m not seeing it rule out a two event scenario. In the Luke account the apostles didn`t know where the taken were going. When they asked Jesus his answer seems to be that they are taken away as bird food. Luke 17:37
I believe the flood in Matthew 24:39 is a metaphor for the Day of the Lord. Would you agree?
Sure. Those taken into the Ark were saved and those left outside of the Ark died. The Ark also took Noah and his family to a safe place to rebuild.
Same with the sister story of Lot. They were also taken to a place of safety by an angel while those left back in Sodom perished.
Jesus is the ark. The taking into ark/rapture requirement is satisfied by Matthew 24:31. Afterward the flood/judgement Matthew 24:39. Then comes the taken in Matthew 24:40-41.
You have described what I have and in the same chronological order. The TAKING/paralambano happens first, with people going into the Ark to be saved and after that the one left is taken/killed in a different sense and different Greek word, airō.
I don`t read Greek so I haven`t completely understood everything you said but in general I agree with your points. However, if Matthew 24 mentions a rapture twice then one of the two verses are out of sequence with the rest of the signs.

The rapture is mentioned when Christ spoke of the angels gathering together the elect, and is also referenced as the "one taken". That doesn't violate anything. Christ gave multiple examples of what the second coming would be like, whether Noah entering the Ark, Lot escaping Sodom, or one being taken while another is not. Even when the bridegroom takes the wise virgins away, that is another rapture/one taken reference.
It looks to me like Jesus reigns on earth for 1000 years before the New Jerusalem and new earth appear....but yes I think those 2 events are speaking of the same event. The rapture. Are they not?One of the threads I`ve been tracking has been making me think about Matthew 24:40-41. Do you want to be taken or left behind at this event?
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left."
Is this the same event as Matthew 24:31
"And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
Note: I already have an opinion about this so be ready to share why you believe your answer is right and I would prefer hearing from those who believe Jesus is coming back to rule the world for awhile before he melts it.
The question is my topic so let`s stay on it.

I get the sense that those taken were wicked like those taken in Noah's Flood.Left behind ...
I take special note of
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all these things be accomplished.
So I wonder what happened in the generation alive when Jesus was speaking.
To answer the question I want to be taken, Jesus taught that when we accept him as Lord we are accepted into his family and that they is a place for us in God's Home, In Revelation we know many will sing God's praises in Heaven and the city will be our resting place.
May only question is what will I be doing then 'forever'?
We want to be left behind.
Noah was left behind, and the wicked were taken away. So it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
