I think anyone who thinks the past was better than today doesn't know much about the past.

I didn't say it was good today, but that it used to be worse. The slaughter of a people was not only common but accepted, etc.

And Arikay didn't say that the genecide committed now is better or worse than genecide committed in the past. What Arikay did say was that at least nowadays those crimes aren't generally excepted, whereas they were generally excepted in days past.

Hey, guys - I've got an idea - things are no better or worse than they ever were!

I think the plan is, live a life where you don't fear meeting God face to face (Which let's face it could happen any day I drive....and could happen to those who are unfortunately enough to be in the car with me when I drive - I'm not a bad driver, I just wish that people wouldn't get so particular about staying in the lines - it's like being back in kindergarden).

It seems like "the end times" is a popular notion these days. I used to brood on it sometimes until I realized that it was influenceing me in a negative way. Thinking of the end of days has a way of cultivating spiritual sloth in the heart of the one pondering, in that, if one thinks the end is coming he or she may ease up in the zeal department, just like a marathon runner eases up around mile 20. We should continue to run this race as if the very next moment may be THE moment, like how a marathon runner speeds up once the finish line is in clear sight.

However, I do think that we are near, it is just a feeling, like repressed excitement. I think it was in Daniel when the prophet said something to the effect, "In the latter days there will be a drastic increase in knowledge and men will travel to and fro." I am not going to ramble on about that because it is pretty self explanitory.

I agree with your feelings on it, but to me it just makes me more excited and gives me more energy like I have to hurry up and do all I can for him. But I have a feeling its close to.

No every bad thing there was in the past with slavery and everything else is still here but it has been added onto with so much more sin. I pray GOD does something quick to end the way the world is headed.

I am doing something, one is trying to get the christian churches to come together and start working towards bring more people in. And among others I've started local youth groups and youth leadership meetings to help them to teach others. I am doing what God allows me to do.

I don't know when Jesus will return...but I do know that my end is near-ish...and the end of loads of lost people is near. Better get on with the work before He comes to get me.

I have to say that I have no idea if the end is near. I don't worry about it much. My husband has friends whom I am pretty sure spend at least part of the day looking out the window to see if Jesus is walking down the street. They also go on and on about the supernatural, and the end of the Church age. I don't get it. I feel that predicting or going one step farther and saying with certainty that the end will soon be upon us is wrong. I don't think that we are supposed to spend a lot of time predicting what God has planned. From my experience the "Revelationists" spend a lot of time predicting doom for everyone around them and they concentrate on the speck when they have a beam in their own eye. Of course, that's just the perspective that I have come to after spending way too much time around people who believe that they will be the sole occupant of heaven.
