I'm really not trying to be a pest myself in here with my statement. I just like to deal in reality and this is heavily based on emotional feelings attached to wonderful animals. I love dogs and cats and all those other wonderful pets people have. Respect for animals no matter if they are wild or not is invaluable to our world.

I'm glad the people here have such great love for their animals. And the Bible doesn't say what happens to animals. I'm just greatful to God for giving us these animals. They are beautifully and wonderfully made.

Hi Everyone I just joined and wanted to join in, I believe John Edwards is a fake also, I can't bear to watch him something very wrong about him...I also don't believe Animals will go to Heaven because they do not have a soul and they know nothing about comitting to God. To enter Heaven Jesus says "Ye must be born again" I believe they are a Blessing to help our life to be happier on this journey. I have a Shih Tzu and I do love her very much. I would like to believe she will go to Heaven but I think we will be so in love with Jesus dogs would out of place.

I think (or - am convinced) that animals will not be in Heaven with the believers. It is one thing that there will be animals like the horse that Jesus is to ride (most likely metaphorical/imagery), and another for our pets to be there. An animal dies and it's blood returns back to earth, and I believe that this is the end.

I really hope not to be harsh or hurt anyone's feelings, only stating my opinion. All in all, I agree with what Extirpated Wildlife had to say in the last post.

Edit: spelling, spelling, spelling!

Many of us would really love to see our pets in heaven and think that it wouldn't be as enjoyable if they weren't there. However, I think that when we get there, we will spend the time praising God and enjoying His presence and that of our fellow brothers and sisters, and will not need our pets. I'm sure that God will be enough :)

I think that a lot of us speculate on what will be in Heaven etc.

None of us knows what it will be like in reality. And I'm sure if God wants our pets to be in heaven then they will be. It doesn't say one way or another in his word.

So...as always I will not say absolutely that something won't happen if God doesn't. ;)

I know this is late, but I KNOW animals are in Heaven Look at all those Bible verses that states they are Heaven:

read Revelation 5 and some verses in Psalms and they both say animals are in Heaven praising God just llike the Angels. The Bible says animals have souls (Eccles 3:21) Also Isiah 11: 6-9 says a Cobra is in Heaven and a child will play next to the Cobra's cove...meantions Lions also in Heaven. Isiah 65: 25 also says animals are in Heaven. Also Revelation 5:13.

What about Ecces. 3:19???

I don't know who John Edwards is but based on what i saw above what people wrote and said he does he seems like a fake. I don't think God wants us to have contact with the dead. It would only be through Satan that we contact the dead in my opinion. And as far as pets, it does say in the Bible that they are here to serve us. But it doesn't specify. Since all things either go to heaven hell or purgatory, i doubt God would put animals in hell or purgatory.

Does anyone here watch that Movie Crossing Over with John Edwards?
:o I was reading this thread backwards from the last post and I thought you all were referring to Jonathan Edwards, the famous Puritan minister and theologian!

P.S. Maybe there will be animals in heaven, but I don't think we'd have pets or anything that would distract us from our sole occupation of worshipping God! I can't wait to be in Heaven! :D

I lost two furbabies in a fire last year, and I honestly believe they are with God. How do we know animals don't have souls? They have the ability to love, don't they? My Missy and Roxie were just like my children, and I still grieve for them. I praiae God my daughter got out, but I believe that my kitties are in Heaven.

This is quite the topic alright..I'm new here , so I don't wanna get up on a sopa box ..but I remember hearing years ago, from some preacher, that animals don't have souls, I felt..How can a God of Love allow a creature I love & care for, to simply exist, then just vanish?? So I did my own searching & discovered there are many scriptures supporting the idea of all living creatures being made renewed. I found some books on the subject. Very interesting notes. These are some things I came across...

For Example
LUKE 3:6 "And all flesh shall see the salvation of God."

the word "all" here is the greek word PAS which means absoloutly every kind & variety. And the word "Flesh" in the greek is the word "Sarx"
Some bibles substitute the scripture for the word flesh , with the word mankind, but the greek word is specific... Sarx means :the substance of any body. Like when it's used in
1 Corinthians 15:39: All flesh is not he same flesh, but there is one kind of men, another of beast, another of fish, and another of bird.
The original greek uses the same word Sarx here.

Some interesting stuff to ponder eh?

John Edwards??? You don’t know what’s going on with that? He does not contact peoples loved ones, he talks to the demons that hold the information he needs for the deception. His show is truly evil and should be avoided at all costs. It’s the most spiritually dangerous TV show in existence. Here is a really good link that explains it very well http://www.creationists.org/john_edward_crossing_over_tv_show.html

As for pets, I do think that we will have the power from God to visit with our long lost pets. There are a lot of things we will be able to do that we can’t imagine yet. No, pets do not have souls be we have our souls given from God and one day we will return to God and enter into his peace. Just stay away from that Edwards guy.

There's a thing called the rainbow bridge that a lot of animal lovers and owners believe in and love. I think maybe it's just heaven though. Animals have to go to heaven...how could a place be perfect without them?:) I know there are lots of people that say animals can't go, because they haven't accepted Jesus, and all that...but God still created them...
you can see the rainbow bridge story at rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm
if you've ever lost a beloved pet, it really is a touching story.

I have just lost my little cat, and 33 days ago one of our two dogs, so I have had reason to search the Scriptures. I've read all the previous posts and find no mention of this key passage:

Ecclesiastes 3:19-21 "For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?" {emphasis added}

And here is appropriate commentary on 3:21:

3:21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward?.... There is indeed a difference between a man and a beast; though they have one breath, they have not one spirit or soul; man has a rational and immortal soul, which, when he dies, goes upwards to God that gave it; to be judged by him, and disposed of by him, in its proper apartment, until the day of the resurrection of the body;

and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth? when the beast dies, its spirit goes down to the earth, from whence it came, and is resolved into it, and is no more. But who is it that sees, or can see and know with the eyes of his body, the difference of these two spirits, or the ascent of the one, and the descent of the other?, Or who knows by the dint of reason, by the strength of his own understanding, without a divine revelation, that man has an immortal soul which goes upwards at death, when that of a beast goes downwards? No man, clearly and fully, as appears from the doubts and half faith of the wisest Heathens concerning it: or rather who knows and considers this difference between the spirit of a man and the spirit of a beast, and thinks within himself what a precious and immortal soul he has, and is concerned for the salvation of it? Very few; and hence it is they live and die like beasts, as they do. The Midrash interprets this of the souls of the righteous that go up to heaven, and of the souls of the wicked that go down to hell.

Do you see the loophole that allows the hope that we will see them in heaven?

Solomon specifically says "the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth".
Notice that Solomon does not say that it stays there. The commentator (John Gill) says that it does, but this is one of the rare cases where I think Gill may be mistaken. Numerous other passages point out that, A) the whole creation (including the animals) is under the curse because of man (Romans 8:22), B) God takes notice of the death of even a sparrow (Romans 10:29), C) The justice of God is absolutely righteous (dozens of passages), an D) Why not? It isn't like Heaven is going to be crowded.

Our happiness will not depend on it, but God is in the details (not the devil!), and from what I know of His nature it would not surprise me a bit if He has made provisions for animals. I sure hope so.

Footnote: I have been a Reformed apologist for many years, and this is the first time I have ever voiced an opinion contrary to what the Scripture apparently says. But that loophole I mentioned............
