  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This became a code word when we were changing locations.

There was a story out of the Korean War where the ground was talking to a recon aircraft. The recon had some vital spy stuff he needed to relay even before he had time to land. They knew the N. Koreans were monitoring the frequency and needed to change freq's, but they new that they would be over heard if they mentioned the new freq over the air. The pilot solved the dilemma by telling the ground to go to Jack Benny's age.

Is that something a Brit would know?

I can only answer that with a story. You can tell a Scot by his brogue. You can tell an Irishman by his accent...as you can with a Welshmn by his inflection. You can tell and Englishman, but you can't tell him much! Sure, we know it all.......;)

Yes, we knew Jack Benny and his forever 39.

Cheers,

Jim

I haven't a clue what you are all talking about.

Old time radio shows (before there was television)...and old t.v. programs...fond memories for those of us who were children then.
We are "remembering when."

:D birdfriend..OP of this topic.

I wonder how many remember the Burma SHave billboards that plastered along American highways? The carried a split message and one had to see all the billboards on a stretch of highway to get the whole message,,,,,,,,,which was always,,,,,,,,,,Burma Shave.

I saw my first telly in 1953 when I came home from Korea. I was a world away from this modern invention then and was glued to the screen, even the adverts.

Cheers,

Jim
