I was born in 1951 and my mother had to have a C-section. She was kept in the hospital for 2 weeks. She was not allowed up for a few days and then gradually she did things. This was standard procedure for C-sections. I had C-sections in 1977 and 1980. I was in the hospital 3 days for each. Both of my births were in the morning and by that evening, they had me up walking. I know that it is much better for you health-wise to get up faster, but I remember thinking I liked the way they did things in the 50's! But I honestly am glad they have made as much medical progress as they have. Oh yes, the whole point of my story was that my birth cost my parents $25.00 and my 1977 baby cost $2,500 and my 1980 baby was $5,000. My granddaughter, who was also born by C-section was almost $30,000. Wow! What a difference!
