  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My Dad cleared out the attic and set up a table and put the train up there. I don't know where they all came from but it ended up being huge. Thanks Dad!!

I have always enjoyed trains.... I looked into buying one that was around the 1950's, but the price tag was not something I could manage....I ended up buying a Hersheys Train for my Christmas Village....nothing old, but I liked it....
Great train!!!!!

Enjoy the day
God bless!

I was thinking about puting up my dad's train that grandpa got him in 1915. It was one of the first eletic trains built. I'd have to look at it again to find the name. I didn't do it this year becasue of all the turmoil.

Putting up your old train.... that would be wonderful.....I do not know your turmoil Radidio....but, as bcauser said, 'it might bring you peace'...

My thoughts: because the little kid in me can be brought to a peaceful place, by enjoying a small train....
Even as an adult I love the sound of a big train going by.... my daughter lives out in the country, but there is something special about the sound of a train....I pause and listen....and smile....
Shared with respect and God's peace to you

...And there were TOY printer sets...I could not find one online anywhere. Then I ran across these photos.
My dad worked for a large city newspaper that already had large machinery but the small town where he was born and raise (he took us there to visit family) had a small print shop just like this one in the photo. That was in 1950s.

I had to smile when I saw your outhouse.... I grew up in the city and when I was 18 my parents got tired of living theref and moved out into the country.... way out in the country. We had a 'Jesus Barn' - thats what it was named....( people had church services before us in it)
and we had a old fashion out house right beside it.

Now my husband, who is the same age as me, had an outhouse till 1963.....
Also they had a farm.... they bathed once a week in a big tub...after working all week on the farm....
they did not empty the water, but reused it for all the family members....woe to the last one who bathed in it....

Also your stoves.... a house my mom and dad had bought there was an old stove in it.... and my folks never took it with them when they sold it.... I always wanted to try one of the old ones....
thank you bcauser for all the you share -
God's peace

do you have a story that goes with your outhouse??????????

And of course one of these has to be inside.....as my grandmother had one secreted under the bed.

th_chamberpot.jpg
yep I remember my grandparents had one under their bed.
When we went to visit Grandparents in the early years and I was only about 5 we had to use outhouse, but I tried not to, grandfather always would say when you walked up to it to holler and scream a lot to scare the snakes away. Then from then on I tried not to ever use it and hold everything till we left and had to stop at first gas station to you know what. Grandfather also told us of once being in it and it blew over one time, true or not, not sure. But he had plenty of stories to tell and none of them made you to excited about using itl Thank God when they finally had one put inside!!

In England, I don't ever recall seeing an outhouse as such. We did have facilities attached to rear of house and it flushed down an open drain beside house to street sewers. We later had indoor facilities with a chain hanging dwon beside the loo to flush it. All our plumbing was outdoors attached to house.

Now, when I was in the army in Korea.......wait, that is another story you don't want to hear.

Cheers,

Jim
