I remember "the Blue and the Grey" I saw it when it was on in the 80's and haven't heard if it since. It was a good movie, also "Centennial" was another good mini-series made for TV.

If I remember right everyone was getting into the video thing there for awhile, TBS and USA had them on really late on the weekends. Does anyone remember the B movies that USA used to play on the weekends, hosted by Gilbert Godfrey. Lol, we didn't have many channels where I grew up, (they had to pipe in sunshine!) so the precious few cable channels we did have I remember well.

I remember going to the gas station and Dad would roll down the window and tell the attendant to "Fill 'er up with regular!". Then they'd wash the windows and check the oil too, while we waited comfortably in the car. Ahhhh, the days of better customer service.

This will freak you out, they still do that in Northern Maine!!!

Yea, we still have full service stations....but their gas prices are way higher...so yea, you have to pay for customer service and back in the day it was included.

Remember getting cool toys in cereal boxes? Now you get stupid stuff or you have to save the box tops and send in $3.95 for shipping.

I used to rush home with my Boo Berry or Count Chocula cereal and dig down into the full box looking for my prize as cereal spilled all over the kitchen floor and table....ohhh, those were the days.

Yeah, I lived in the country (still do, and still no cable, but we do have satellite now ) and I always felt so cool when I'd get to stay up late and see those terrible Tron-like CG graphics come on to introduce us to the latest Eurythmics and Culture Club videos! Woo-hoo! Good times!
