  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you recognize the word of God when you read it...

:) Because actually I am not waiting on His "return", He has already come to me

I actually read the Bible as Biblically fulfilled, as do a lot of other christians

(Young) 2 Corinthians 5:17 so that if any one [is] in Christ--[he is] a new creature/creation; the old things did pass away, lo, have become NEW the all things. gegonen kaina ta panta

I am awaiting his return. It is said that he will return the way he left in Acts, decending from out of the clouds, revelations tells us that will be the eastern sky. The Bible isnt fulfilled, only the old testement is fullfilled, well, most of it is, there are some end times prophesies in there.

If the OT is fulfilled, then the Bible is fulfilled. Btw, what is your view of the "Mystery of God"?
Reve 10:7 but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.
Luke 21:20 `And when ye may see Jerusalem surrounded [#2944] by encampments, then know that come nigh [#1448] did her desolation[/b]; ............28 and these things beginning to happen bend yourselves back, and lift up your heads, because your redemption/apo-lutrwsiV <629> doth draw nigh.'[#1448]

Galatians 3:13 Christ did redeem/ ex-hgorasen <1805> us from the curse/kataraV <2671> of the law, having become for us a curse/ katara <2671>, for it hath been written, `Cursed/epi-kataratoV <1944> is every one who is hanging on a tree,'
Revelation 5:9 and they sing a new song, saying, `Worthy art thou to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because thou wast slaughtered, and didst redeem/ hgorasaV <59> us to God in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,

Have you forgotten the new testament then LLJ? You called yourself a christian, the new testament is part of the Bible
The NT revealed what was hidden in the OT. Do you believe that? How do you view the mystery of God btw? I view revelation covenantely, another words, sybolic Israel and Judah as I read it as an OC Hebrew Jew would have read it. Thoughts?

Just out of curiosity do interpret this as literally/physically flying down from the clouds?
I will let ERice respond to this.

Thats how he assended to heaven and that will be how he returns.
Wasn't this prophecy made while the temple/sacntuary was still standing?

Odd, the same greek word for "sourround/encircle" is used in revelation, but that is after the 1000yr period?

Luke 21:20 `And when ye may see Jerusalem surrounded/kukloumenhn <2944> by encampments, then know that come nigh [#1448] did her desolation; ............28 and these things beginning to happen bend yourselves back, and lift up your heads, because your redemption/apo-lutrwsiV <629> doth draw nigh.'[#1448]
Revelation 20:9 and they did go up over the breadth of the land, and did surround/ekuklwsan <2944> the camp of the saints, and the beloved city,

If you mean physically/literally i'm curious how you arrived at seeing it that way. I've never seen any reason to think that it wasn't symbolic.

Acts 1:9 ....he was taken up before their very eyes and a cloud hid him from their sight.

Acts 1:10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.

Acts 1:11 "Men of Galilee" they said "Why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heavan, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heavan."

There is no reason to believe it wont happen just as it is said.

I am finding it amazing how few have even looked at that one little word in revelation. Thoughts.

I would have to read revelations again to answer that.

Btw, how do you view that "court" in revelation just out of curiosity?

"He is the King, the All-Knowing, the Wise! Lo, the Nightingale of Paradise singeth upon the twigs of the Tree of Eternity, with holy and sweet melodies, proclaiming to the sincere ones the glad tidings of the nearness of God, calling the believers in the Divine Unity to the court of the Presence of the Generous One, informing the severed ones of the message which hath been revealed by God, the King, the Glorious, the Peerless, guiding the lovers to the seat of sanctity and to this resplendent Beauty.

Verily this is that Most Great Beauty, foretold in the Books of the Messengers, through Whom truth shall be distinguished from error and the wisdom of every command shall be tested. Verily He is the Tree of Life that bringeth forth the fruits of God, the Exalted, the Powerful, the Great..." (Compilations, Baha'i Prayers, p. 208)

reve 11:1 ..."Go and measure the templeof God and the alter and count the worshippers there,
11:2 But exclude the outer court, do not measure it, because it has been given to the gentiles.....

It sounds like the outer court of the tabernacle. If I remember right non-Jews werent allowed inside the santuary/temple, and only preists were allowed in the alter room.

Of course that changed when Jesus was crusified. the curtian seperating the holy of holies from the rest of the temple was torn from top to bottom allowing full access to God for everyone.

I don't know because Acts is considered to be written by Luke who was not an eyewitness to the events but inspired by the Holy Spirit. I also generally consider heaven to not be an actual physical place but something greater that is beyond or current physical comprehension (hence the need symbolic understanding) so when i see mention of it being up in the clouds, it throws up the symbolism flag in my mind.

Here is how "court" is used in the NT/NC.

There are 2 different kinds of "priesthoods" in revelation it seems and the Altar would be the Golden Altar of Incense inside the Sanctuary.

The word for "temple [#2411]" is never used once.

Matthew 26:3 Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled at the court/palace [#833] of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

Let me add for a moment, I do believe that the Muslims, Jews, and Christians all worship the same God, they just have different points of view of a great many things. (not so much between Jews and Christian, except on one major point that I know of, The Massiah)

This probably deserves its own thread, but I respectfully beg to differ. Among non-Christian, I have found none that differs more from Christianity than Judaism.

Yet, as a Christian, you know for a fact that Judaism came from God. The differences are simply man-made traditions and not wanting to let go of them.

Really?

I thought you were an expert on other people's religions, from that thread you're in where you're continually insisting the Hindu man is wrong about his own religion's worship practices.

Do you really think Judaism is further from Christianity than Discordianism or Wicca or Daoism or Sikh? I've never heard such a claim. On what basis do you form this opinion, please?
