Jazzcat you may have a point. I know plenty of people who don't like the charismatic style of worship, who find that its too person focused and based upon feeling a spiritual "high" all the time. And yet I also know people who like that style and find it helps them. But what I want to know is, does it please God when I act and jump around like that? Does what I do in my praise and worship glorify God or satisfy my own desires?

The idea of having a "mosh" pit in church or a Christian service repulses me. To me all I see is the influence of the secular world in the church instead of the influence of the church in the world.

I dont think any of you get Planet Shakers i go to the church and youth group andchurch and it is one of the best place i have been and it has a great presencce of God and evryhing is about God and you may be repulsed but many people like the idea of a mosh pit we need to cater to this generation you may not like it but many people do

To call there church Worldly just because if doesn't fit your particular style of worship is harsh, they are doing awesome things for the kingdom, if you don't like the way it is run, its quite simple, Don;t go there!

thats right!!!

lets not pull each other down. there's enough people out there who are against the church and what they do (including how they choose to run things). They DON'T need fellow Christians to be doing the same, rather we should show our support, it's ok to disagree, but just be careful who you say those things to.

Planet Shakers is loved by soo many young people, and this ministry is making and will continue to make a difference in this nation! All I can say is.....I'm glad someone out there decided to make a HUGE impact for Jesus! something we should all be trying to do.

But cater to this generation by introducing something that can potentially be dangerous to people's health and safety is just silly. Last year when I went to Black Stump, security were pretty strict in ensuring that those standing near the stage did just that.

We all need to look beyond the face of any church to see what they really are doing for the Kingdom, and not be drawn in simply because the way churches do things appeals to our physical senses. And teenagers are most vulnerable to that sort of attraction where they can potentially miss out on core Gospel truths because they're too busy enjoying the immediate experience.

To a point I think if the conference was held in Africa or a large African American church then this discussion wouldn't exist. I used to have conversations with two of my friends that I used to attend Shakers conferences with. One who was South African and of darker skin and one who is of a Latino background her parents are from Chile. Our conversations used to be based around the fact that Australians think dancing is just jumping... If you went to an african church they wouldn't just be jumping they'd be dancing with groove they'd be yelling saying:amen: ... Loud and vocal... David danced before the Lord... There are many occasions in the Bible where people danced. I think the Lord loves it when His people worship Him with all that they have. Their bodies, their voices, their whole hearts and minds... Just coz us Aussies can't groove necessarily as good as other Nations and we might jump instead or some kids mosh. Doesn't mean they aren't touching God and having their hearts change through the Spirit of God.

Sure there are going to be negative aspects to a massive room full of teenagers. The amount of kids at these things are collossal. To be honest I'm a youth leader and we have trouble keeping our bunch of 15 under control at times. So have a bit of compassion. At least some of these kids that might not be so much like Jesus yet. Or unruly at times... Maybe from broken homes or violent, abusive homes. Maybe their parents don't care what they get up to. Maybe they are not disciplined. At least they are in a place and environment where they can hear about Jesus. Be touched by the Spirit of God and through the word of God be transformed and follow him.

corey - i said ages ago about using spell check. please do, or at least read over your posts? they're gettin increasingly harder to decode and read, and i'd rather be able to.

and i agree with kristianj and i have been, twice. mosh pits are fun but i don't think they really belong in a church.

With all due respect:

1. Spell check, as kyrie said. I don't mean this to be rude, but people's grammar standards seems to really decline on message boards.
2. I don't give my point of view in an attitude of blindness and guesswork. Sure, I haven't been to a Planetshakers conference but I do not need to go to one to make what I say valid, nor do I need to go to one to experience some sort of spiritual "high" that other conferences might not be able to give me. It applies whether I have been or have not been - I'm making a general comment that is based on conferences/churches that I have been to.

You may have made a comment but you may not like the idea of a praise pit (mosh pit) in a church but i do ands so do thousands of other people you can say and think what you want thats fine But churches are oddfernt and praise pits DO belong it churches we dont need people tearing down churches and what they do esspicaly christians you may not like it thats finepeople do and peopl don't differnet chruches are diffenret and There is nothing worng with they way planetshakers or churches like it run you have some sort of thoughts what they do is wrong and ow they atract eens is wrong but in the long run as long and we are praising and worshiping God and learning the word it is fine
