Do you know why a Christian cannot willfully sin

Even though the Word emptied Himself to become man, the baby Jesus, the seed of the Father was in Him from the beginning of conception. Therefore, during His life even before He was baptized by the Spirit for ministry and miracles, He didn’t sin, though He was tempted by Satan, just as we are. And for us, God always makes a way of escape.

That same seed is in Christ’s followers who have been baptized with the Spirit. 1 John 3:says, 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

This is also why we must have that seed in us. Romans 8:9 "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His."

If you still willfully sin (and don't be spiritually ignorant and say all sin is willful. There are also unknown (to us) sins that are not sins unto death in 1 John 5. Willful sins are rebellious against God - and without repentance will produce death.), do as Jesus said, "Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works." So what are the first works? Acts 2:38, I believe are those in a nutshell.

Yes, praise God! The last time I sinned unintentionally that became known to me later was in 1989 through 1990. I am free. And the last time I committed a willful sin was in 1977. And do you know what is the frosting on the cake? All my prayers are answered.

1 John 3:19-23
19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

Here’s the one where you say that your last unintentional sin was 30 years ago. Do you still stand by this statement?

1 John 1(10)

1 John 1:10? What is your statement or question?

1 John 1:5 God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:6 walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
1 John 1:7 walk in the light as Jesus is in the light.
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Do you notice a pattern? These are contrasting verses between light and darkness; good and evil; truth and no truth; saved and unsaved.

This is an example of one of the Semitic styles of writing that the Hebrew apostles used. Our western style of writing takes after the Greek and would form two paragraphs, clumping all the darkness into one, and all the light into the other. John did the same thing in parts of the 3rd chapter - see 1 John 3. John goes back and forth contrasting thoughts.

Therefore in chapter 1, the unsaved walk in darkness, have no consciousness that they have ever sinned, so don't need Christ.

The verses on the light shows its source: God. God's seed is in us who walk in the light, and verse 9 is how we got saved to begin with.

Any questions?

Yes, at the time. But I remember another one, not as much a transgression as 30 years ago marrying a Christian man without asking God first. In fact, this time I thought I was doing good - helping an old friend out who was homeless. But there were signs I didn't see. It was only after he stole my car and owed me thousands of dollars, did I see that my good work was okay in God's sight as He has told us to give to all who ask of us, but it was not His perfect will. Now, even if something looks like a good deed, I'll remember this, and see if it really is God's will that I jump in blindfolded and help. This was not lawlessness, but a transgression of my established relationship with God. I didn't wait to see if I was to pray for help around my place after coming out of the hospital. You see, my relationship with God is that He tells me what to pray for, THEN I pray, and it comes to pass and it is good. So the one time I pray my own will without hearing from God first, the prayer is answered, but it was answered with a con man. It reminded me of the children of Israel begging for quail. The quail came, and as soon as they ate it, they died with it still in their mouth. (Numbers 11:33)

Those are the two I know about, but after the fact. When you walk in the Spirit, if you unintentionally commit a transgression, they are usually unknown to you. In other words, I go to bed with a clear conscience as 1 John 3 advises. This is just the Christian walk, and common to all who walk in the Spirit.

So are you saying you have no power over sin STILL? Are you still in the drawing from the Holy Spirit, but have not yet turned your whole life over to God? Are you still the boss? Do you think you have a relationship with God, but walk in darkness? 1 John 1:6 I just want to know why you feel no power over willful sin to uphold it so, and fight me against freedom from sin - the gospel.

Since when is it against the rules of the boards to preach the doctrine of entire sanctification?

An entire denomination, the Nazarene Church, has this as a primary doctrine. You may as well outlaw all of the Nazarenes who come to these boards and prohibit them from speaking, because it is what they believe, and it is what they will speak (2 Corinthians 4:13). You will also be proving that the internet is not bound by the rules of the Constitution of the United States of America; because you would be effectively taking away freedom of speech from an entire denomination of Christians (and those of other denominations who believe as they do).

See the statement of purpose thread pinned to the top of the GT forum. The heretical doctrine of sinless perfectionism cannot be promoted here.

Yes, but I've made some whopper mistakes, but they were not intentional.

So are you saying you have no power over sin STILL? Are you still in the drawing from the Holy Spirit, but have not yet turned your whole life over to God. Are you still the boss?

What’s the difference between an unintentional sin and an unintentional whopper mistake in the eyes of God?

Hun, go back as I've edited in the rest of the story... That might answer your question.

It is actually the gospel. The good news. Freedom from sin. And His POWER to live a life reconciled to the Father.

I'll just ask that this be moved to the Controversial forum. Sad that freedom from sin is not a generally believed topic for General Theology.

The long term effect on me.

They are not calling perfectionism a heresy. You are, which is also against the rules. Besides, perfectionism is in line with the life of a mature Christian. So it is probably too deep for the average Christian of our liberal lukewarm age. But it is not perfectionism of ALL sin, just all lawlessness. There is a difference, but you want to still fight the Bible on this and twist my words.

Because of this new rule against preaching the truth of entire sanctification in the Bible, it is very likely that I will be leaving these forums and going over to a different Christian forum/message board. I came over here because I had some trouble with them before; I called into question someone's salvation and was disciplined for it. But if they will receive me back I will be frequenting Bible forums from now on.

Just so you know, especially, my friend. I requested this thread to be moved. I agree with you, but I think the General Theology section is for new believers, and this thread is for mature believers on the road to deeper cleansing, going from glory to glory. Babies can only receive milk. This is meat! And babies just can't handle it, as we've seen. What is sad is some of the babies never want to grow up...they do not hunger and thirst for righteousness.

he doesnt.the truth is they had not yet come to repentance in the first place.
they just decieved themselves.
Wait...
We have Chritians who willfully sin
Fear hell
Miss God
Regret the harm they have done
Pray
Cry
Go to their pastor for council
Confess
Return to God's ways with the help of his grace
Show the fruits of the spirit

Who are you to say this is not authentic?
