Do you know why a Christian cannot willfully sin

It is written that we have an Advocate Who we can go to to seek mercy, grace, and forgiveness when we sin.

We are not sinless, nor perfect.

Just "forgiven".

The scriptures I quote say that the saved do not sin because the old sinful self dies and a new self is made by God.

People may not like to hear that, but its what the scripture says.

Are you saved?

If the saved do not sin, I am not saved because I still sin.

The scripture I quoted says the saved do not sin. They are tempted to sin, yes, but they DO NOT SIN.

Hence Jesus telling at least two people (the mad at Bethesda and the Woman caught in adultery) to "sin no more".

Peter sinned and Paul had to admonish and correct him.

Peter wasn't saved?

Are you deaf or something (well, blind, as its typed)?

I have already answered that. I am not answering it AGAIN. Read the previous answer.

Is that sarcasm? Especially with a cutting edge to it?

That's sin, isn't it?

How many times do I have to tell you that yes I sin, and thus those scripture verses tell me I am not saved?

Would you like me to cut and paste it another 14 times to separate posts where you ask me the same question over and over? :p

Linky and quoty saying its sin....

Oh it was sin.

Bottom line, anything we think, say, or do without the love of God and His inexplicable grace, IS sin.

Any hatred, animosity, and rejection, and deception, especially of our brothers and sisters in Christ, IS sin.

God looks on our "heart". He could care less what we do or say on the surface.

If our hearts aren't right with God, we can hang up any claims we have of being "sinless".

God's own are forgiven. That's why they are so thankful to Him for His grace.

Obviously, you haven't thought this through. There are too many questions left erroneously answered by unwritten presumptions.

Isnt your statement of "willfully sin" an assumption as well? You posted a scripture that states "he that sins is of the devil" But then you added the assumption of "willfully" as to make an exception for some sins........an exception not mentioned in the word. So which is it?

I do claim Jesus as my Lord. But I still fail to live for Him as I ought. I still willfully sin and imagine that this will continue until I die.

For you it will continue until you die..... And you also have a lot of support with all the people saying that you cant stop. But there are a few who believe otherwise, and you could start believing as well. Then you will stop sinning.....and be transformed.......by the renewing of your mind.

I believe he will enter heaven before many of us....... To be deceived, you have to already believe that you have already obtained something that you havent yet. What is the state of one who believes they can sin and be saved.....only needing to recite a few words with their eyes closed after each sin.....?

The ones who the feast was prepared for will not come.....it is those standing on the highways who will be the primary guests....yet we stand looking at those on the highway...saying "Im glad im not like those guys over there"

Who SAYS that, Raymond?

That's quite despicable, isn't it?

That's exactly what Jesus was referring to when He gave the account of the tax collector, so aware of his sins that he was too ashamed to even come close but simply said 'forgive me, a sinner' while the other guy said how he doesn't ever sin, and how thankful he was that he wasn't like "those guys".

Man oh man, that self-righteousness is a bear, amen?

15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.” Romans 7:15-20

I dont believe anyone would say this.....so not to be identified with the verse you mentioned...for starters.

But I believe this is an internal feeling one gets when they feel they are saved....and there are others living in error.

not wise to try and determine the salvation of anyone, including oneself until they are in heaven and hell has passed.....
