• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

This is my life verse. You might wonder, what is a life verse?
It is that one verse that gets you thought the rough times, that one verse that you know that God wants for you. That one verse to help you grow. That one verse to give you strength. That one verse that describles not only you but your faith and what you need to work on. If you don't have a life verse, pray about it and then open the bible and get you one. Then memorize it and burn it in your brain. This is what you fight with, the Word of God!! You will never regret it!!!!!!

My Dear husbands verse is:
Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Please post your life verses on this thread!
Thanks!

When I hurt. When I don't understand. I rely on God's promises. This is usually the scripture promise that comes to mind:

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will direct your paths.

It just reminds me that He's in control, and I don't have to be. I don't have to understand everything in front of me. I trust in Him completely.

Acts 15:37 Now Barnabas wanted to take with them John called Mark. 38 But Paul thought best not to take with them one who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work. 39 And there arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him and sailed away to Cyprus

My fav is verse 37 and maybe it is more of a life-concept then a life verse. Why would I choose such an unspiritual sounding verse? Well, many years ago when I was in high school I heard a sermon called "Barnabas:The best friend in the Bible" His names means "son of consolation" (or encouragement).

The setting is that Mark had failed to live up to Paul's expectations. Can you imagine what it must have been like for Paul to see you as a failure. This could have been the end for Mark but Barnabas saw great potential in him. So he took Mark under his wing. What an example of Jesus' love and forgiveness! We all fail and we all need a Barnabas once-in-awhile. Verse 37 sums up what I would like to be for others. That's why I have always liked that verse.

Hi

Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Ecclesiastes 11:5 says: “As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.”

Romans 8:28 reads: “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.“

John 16:33: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Isaiah 53:4a reads: “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows,”

1 Peter 5:7 it says, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Romans 5:3-4 ~ ”And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope.”

These scriptures really helped me get through the loss of my son.

Happy Birthday!

Thanks for stating this thread.

I hadn't realised before, but I think this must be my life verse.

This last year or so I have often clung to it's assurance when everything is too difficult to understand.
It's short, sweet and to the point, and I find it very strengthening:

Job 19:25
I know that my Redeemer lives,

That's my very favourite part, but the passage continues wonderfully too:

and that in the end he will stand upon the earth.
And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet in my flesh I will see God;
I myself will see him
with my own eyes-I, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!

God bless, Susana
