CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I blame the awesome local burrito parlor in Norfolk. And also the awesome local burrito parlor outside Fort Stewart. Oh yeah, and my recent discover of Chipotle.

It bugs the crap out of me. I still say what I want on threads. It's a forum open to the public for goodness sakes. Unless the derail is meant to hurt someone, I don't mind tangents anymore. My mind thinks in tangents. Why not post in tangents as well. I really dislike stay on topic nazi's. I am beginning to just not bother opening threads by a few people who do it.I was a "stay on topic" nazi once.

I have an extremely serious case of like. And the best part is, he's chasing God more than he's chasing me. And we just started doing a BIBLE STUDY together. And he's soooo manly in the Biblical sense; I admire him so much. Sometimes I feel like my heart is going to explode with happy. Gahhhh. /rant.

Sounds like you fell in love with John Wesley.
I can be a "stay on topic" Nazi if it's my thread, it's a serious subject, and I catch someone trying to carry out a red herring.
I also generally try to stay on topic (as much as possible, any way) in the hopes of having a nice discussion on the topic. I've seen too many topics never get good online discussions because they always get derailed by the second page.
