There will be suffering but there will also be faith and hope birthed within you. But there is scripture that says that this life and doing good in this life and being a good Christian, like that in this world, is not always a smooth ride sometimes, sometimes, or for some time, or for or at "some times" maybe...?

Stay strong. Offer up your sufferings to God.

Dont look for rewards for your faith and love of God. Instead, offer up your faith for others. Try and be humble.

Not "not believe" or not, or not believe in a or any of the "gods" or The God, but wondering about it (the doing and/or being good) not seeming to have any or very much benefit sometimes, and when, sometimes, you feel like your doing or being pretty good or the best you can or know how, and in how that doesn't seem to be of much bearing or have any good benefits from it much or at all anymore (being or doing good, within your own limited realm and scope of ability of course) and in fact it seems like things can also get worse a lot of the time for doing good or being or trying to be good sometimes...

Probably back in my early teenage years I had similar feelings.

But after I encountered Jesus, I try not to do good out of a desire to avoid punishment or in order to get something in return, but rather to please my Father as the loving Son does - in love because I am adopted into the family. (Not that I am very successful at it - mostly I am a spoiled child demanding things from God, even though I am abundantly blessed; and angry and complaining when I don’t get what I want, whether or not I need it or whether it is good for me or not).

I have met my Lord, so I try to emulate Him to know Him better. I don’t do good to get something from Him (or at least, I try not to. Forgive my hypocrisy when I fail to live up to this.)

We don't get THAT out of what WE do.

We get that by trusting Him to help us.... deal with life (I guess if you'd want to put it that way)? My life is messed up. My life is broken. It's loaded up with sin, both mine and other people's. Everything I've lived through weighs down my soul.

I watched my mother kill herself with alcoholism. My dad battled with depression his entire life. In the end, alcohol abuse shut down his kidneys and he died too. I had a husband who caused himself, me and his child so much misery with his own selfishness that in the end he committed suicide by swallowing a bunch of pills. My son has autism and epilepsy and now 14 years of being on medication is starting to affect his liver. He could die too. Back in 1991; I bore witness to the repercussions of wars fought in the Middle-East. The nightmares sometimes still wake me up.

God has taken care of me though. He's spared both me and my son from some pretty horrendous things that could have happened to us. When I say "Here God, You deal with this, because I don't know what to do with it." I get a sense of peace that I don't have to worry about it. What ever happens in this life; in the end I still get to see the Redeemer who bought me and that makes me happy. (Which has nothing to do with "good deeds" I might do.) God has been there to help me though the trials, triumphs, poop I've seen happen, poop that's happened to me; and even stupid stuff I've done myself. He holds my existence. I will never be lost and for that I will ever be grateful!

He does care, Goodman 1985. But in the here in now, if we're Christian, we're subject to suffering in order to gain that which Christ suffered for us -- i.e. Eternal Life with God.

We're not living the Christian life so we can gain a mansion, or a car, or a large bank account, or anything else that in worldly terms is deemed supreme. No, we just want to be with Jesus Christ forever, and hopefully, we'll have many other people to share this with, including our family members.

Sometimes I do question God in that way, but I quickly see the light.

First of all, telling God you want more without showing deep appreciate for what he has already given you is an insult to God.

Second, I trust God knows what I need better than I do.

If you don't truly trust God - expect nothing from him.

If you truly trust God - expect him to give you everything you need - not everything you want.
