Hey, I simply said that stating that wine in the bible means grape juice is the dumbest thing AV said up to now. I will happily go into the discussion whether his claim that Adam spoke English is dumber or not, although that is somewhat a question of taste, but that these are dumb statements is true. Truth is not malicious.

So, what is this then?

Luke 5:37 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

The reason for not putting new wine into old bottles (and what they used as bottles back then were really "wineskins") is because new wine expands with fermentation and breaks the container if it is old. This passage is used as a metaphor for old pharisees (old bottles) not being compatible with the New Testament (new wine).

There is nothing wrong with putting grape juice wherever you want as there is no fermentation and it doesn't expand. And there is more:

Luke 5:39 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

Another metaphor, as above, to indicate that someone growing up with Judaism (or drinking old wine straightway) will not easily accept the new ways (the new wine). Again, old wine might be viewed as something that tastes better than new wine, but "old grape juice" will just taste rotten.

In your opinion, the writer of the book of James was not Jesus' brother ... correct?

It was written by James the Just. Was he the brother of Christ? Clearly, if he was, then he rejected any notion that Jesus was the son of God when Jesus came to Galilee. The inability of Jesus' family to grasp who He was was not lost on Him.

Matthew 12:
46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Actually, Jesus did have a half brother (by Mary and Joseph) and he is one theory of whom might have wrote the book of James. He, in this theory, fits the archetype of writing of the other books in the New Testament and since he would have been close to Jesus and his ministry it is a logical conclusion. The other theories have various other speculation, but no proof exists. This, again, is the most logical without a document of proof.

The man who wrote the epistle of James has been assumed to be various historical figures, yet modern researchers have come to agreement that the author of this book is likely the same James who became the first Bishop of Jerusalem. He is said by some to have been the brother of Jesus. Interestingly enough, James was thought to have been an unbeliever before the crucifixion. Later in 1 Corinthians 15:7 as well as in some references in documents still extant from the early church we find that Christ (after he had risen) appeared to James and there was a conversion.

So who was James? The proof of this is known only to God. The evidence is that Jesus appeared to His brother much like He appeared to Saul of Tarsas after His resurrection.

You misunderstand me -- AV is whining about being insulted -- I find it hard to consider them "insults" if the offensive statements are in fact true.
