Do you consider your beliefs too unique for one denomination?

You basically just described me! I haven't found a place to settle down yet, may wind up back in a Catholic church, may wind up back in a Southern Baptist... Only God knows!
That's quite a spectrum. Yes, God certainly knows, but since He has given you His written Word, He has placed a serious responsibility on your shoulders (which you can't hand back to Him). Prove all things, hold fast that which is good (1 Thess 5:21 KJV). Which means that you are to do the *proving* as well as the holding fast.

Why do baptist churches put Baptist on their signs? The same could be asked for almost every denomination we have. It is simple, it is advertisement. They are advertising to those who share their beliefs, saying "baptist people come here we are also baptist". ( I am only using baptist as an example, I am not trying to single them out). Denominations are only divisions. And frankly by looking at the statement of faith for this particular discussion board, nondenominational is in fact a denomination. I also do not belong to any denomination, nor could I ever. I feel if I were to join any denomination that I would be excluding my brothers and sisters in other denominations. The Body of Christ extends past the boundaries of race, nation, denomination. By reading and listening to God I have found my beliefs and they do not fit into any denomination. That said, I have found that the only important part is Christ and him crucified. My brothers and sisters come from a wide variety of backgrounds and beliefs, but the core is the same Christ and him crucified. Our job is not to promote our local churches or our denominations, but to show God's infinite love. And for the church to become whole and healthy so that we can make a serious impact on this world, then we need to come together. Put aside our differences and focus on the love of God that heals.

Sorry I might have got off suubject a little. My advice is to go where ever God leads you. It isn't about our personal preferences but God's plan and us finding comfort in our trust for him.

This is a great post! I don't belong to any denomination because the message of God is always fresh and as I continue my Christian life God is always "opening my eyes" wider and wider to what he would have me know. To me, denominations are "stuck" in believing that their dogma is the equivalent of God's truth (implying that the other denominations don't have it right). I believe that many of the members of denominations are sincere Christians who love God and do their best to live by the Holy Spirit given to them by Lord Jesus Christ. However, I also think they find comfort surrounded by those who believe the same doctrine that they believe and, unfortunately, are uncomfortable around other Christians who believe a different dogma.

In Paul's first letter to the believers in Corinth he wrote "For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you. Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, "I follow Paul," and "I follow Apollos," and "I follow Cephas," and "I follow Christ." Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?…" I believe that this applies today to those Christians who follow the teachings of a particular denomination and denigrate the beliefs of those who follow the doctrine of another denomination. Christ has NOT been divided.

No He has not been divided but men have tried to do just that. I just today had someone claim that their church is the only 'true' way. Man, I thought we were long past that! I will stay non-denominational I guess because I am not going to tell anyone their love of Christ is in vain. Nope. Not me.
