I have noticed that (within my church) that nearly 100 percent of those who say they didn't get anything from this service or that service are those who do not attend regularly. As an elder, when I minister to them they usually share at least some of their problems they are struggling with. It is amazing how many times a problem is shared that if they had not of missed the last service for it was for them!

I find many times that these types of people have a love for God and expect Him to move in their lives yet they do not avail themselves to every opportunity in which to be ministered to by the Holy Spirit or the Word. Sure God can move when ever or where ever He chooses but God requires obedience. We cannot even be saved without being obedient. As I said in my original post, Jesus has given us the gifts of the five fold ministry and we must make ourselves available to them so that we may be perfected so as to do the work of the ministry.

I guess we will always have those who do not feel they need to attend a church or at best attend semi-regularly. But, then we have the faithful sheep who at times need to be "shooed" home for they never want to leave the assembling of themselves! I can remember times, and still have them myself when church may be over at 9 pm and some will gather outside till 1-2am talking about the things of God! On a Wednesday night!

ah the times of my youth, when I could have lived in church! Greg we went to our first sunrise service in April of 1960, we left home walking, long before daylight, a 4 mile walk to church which we did gladly, whenever we were allowed to go.
We left without food or the thought of food. After the sunrise service everyone went to breakfast before traveling to an adjoining city where we broadcast on a small am station, except for me and my sister. We stayed at church singing, helping to clean a little praying and just enjoying being there. Then at 10 we had ss and regular service. Everyone went home we stayed and sang and prayed and cleaned a little, about 4 that afternoon one of the sisters remembered we were there, and she came back with her family and took us and bought us an ice cream cone. Then we went back for evening service, which lasted until around 9 or 10. I can't remember if we walked home, that night or if one of the members took us home.
Both of us though hungry and tired would have stayed forever gladly..How good those days were.
