I have noticed that (within my church) that nearly 100 percent of those who say they didn't get anything from this service or that service are those who do not attend regularly. As an elder, when I minister to them they usually share at least some of their problems they are struggling with. It is amazing how many times a problem is shared that if they had not of missed the last service for it was for them!
I find many times that these types of people have a love for God and expect Him to move in their lives yet they do not avail themselves to every opportunity in which to be ministered to by the Holy Spirit or the Word. Sure God can move when ever or where ever He chooses but God requires obedience. We cannot even be saved without being obedient. As I said in my original post, Jesus has given us the gifts of the five fold ministry and we must make ourselves available to them so that we may be perfected so as to do the work of the ministry.
I guess we will always have those who do not feel they need to attend a church or at best attend semi-regularly. But, then we have the faithful sheep who at times need to be "shooed" home for they never want to leave the assembling of themselves! I can remember times, and still have them myself when church may be over at 9 pm and some will gather outside till 1-2am talking about the things of God! On a Wednesday night!
