I see that AnaBaptists and Baptists believe in the the ordinance of Baptism, but do the other groups that post believe that as well?

My question is in regards to the groups in this forum, in particular.

From the Baptist Faith and message:
VII. Baptism and the Lord's SupperChristian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Matt. 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; Acts 20:7; Rom. 6:3-5; 1 Cor. 10:16, 21; 11:23-29; Col. 2:12.

From the Anabaptist Schleitheim Confession

I. Observe concerning baptism: Baptism shall be given to all those who have learned repentance and amendment of life, and who believe truly that their sins are taken away by Christ, and to all those who walk in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and wish to be buried with Him in death, so that they may be resurrected with Him and to all those who with this significance request it (baptism) of us and demand it for themselves. This excludes all infant baptism, the highest and chief abomination of the Pope. In this you have the foundation and testimony of the apostles. Matt. 28, Mark 16, Acts 2, 8, 16, 19. This we wish to hold simply, yet firmly and with assurance.

From the Mennonite Yearbook, volume 77 (1986-87).
We believe that those who repent and believe should be baptized with water as a symbol of baptism with the Spirit, cleansing from sin, and commitment to Christ.

The Amish mostly consider themselves Anabaptists and believe:
Adult baptism is done after one makes a commitment to the church.

So what about the other groups that are in this forum?

Wow. I didn't know that the Salvation Army didn't do baptisms. Personally, I think that baptism by immersion is one of the ordinances along with communion.

Well, my question about what we have in common was in regards to this particular forum. Since I have been told by Crazy Liz in another thread that the Salvation Army is part of the Wesleyan congregation - it really is a side issue in this thread.

I will post a clarification in the OP.

I always have trouble explaining to people why Quakers don't baptize.

Not a Quaker but this explains it well for me:
Quakers don't baptize anyone. We don't baptize babies, and we don't baptize grown-ups. We're just not into the whole water baptism business. For other Christians, baptism is the main event. They have arguments over how it's
done, and who can be baptized. But they agree that baptism needs to happen.

I guess that like most Quakers, I feel that the real change is something which needs to happen on the inside. Getting sprinkled or dunked just isn't as important as being
changed. What really matters is that our minds and hearts and actions really change, and that the Holy Spirit is at work.
