Do you feel guilty when you step on an ant and kill it? Is an ant not alive?

I am not sure ant is a life or not. But I do feel I killed a life when I killed an ant. Not such a feeling when I pull out a weed.

What does an animal do that a plant does not? What is it that makes an animal alive that a plant lacks?

I can not answer this question unless we subdivided the so-called animals. For example, I don't think ameba is an animal. Even a mosquito may not be an animal.

KFC does not raise chickens. They purchase them from a variety of suppliers. They are not mutated any more than any other chicken you may eat.

feelings are not a valid way of defining a scientific idea. However, when I pull out a weed, I feel I am killing the weed. When I swat a mosquito, I feel I am killing the mosquito, and I'm glad she died. When I am sick, I gladly take antibiotics (as appropriate) and let those germs DIE BABY DIE!

But we will do it more humanely I hope as we know better that they can feel pain. We will kill a insect because it can invade our homes or bite us. But normally we wont go out and look for insects to kill for the fun of it. Its just a hygiene and safety thing. But some will feel more sensitive to killing anything and thats part of our makeup as humans. But a spider couldn't care less to kill a fly because thats their supper. They just live to breed and eat and survive. We live to love as well. In fact we will die for someone else through love and sacrifice our own lives for the sake of others.

I agree but that is what is happening a lot of the time. If you look at the 1st world countries and their consumption it is using way to much resources. But this is what everyone has got use to and wants. Consumerism is pushed and profits have to be made. Its an unbridled and out of control juggernaut that is going to destroy this planet. Then the 3rd world countries want the same and as the world continues to over populate things will only get worse. Add to that the effects that are already starting to happen from global warming and the pilfering of the earths natural resources and we are headed for some disasters that are going to shake things down. People know its wrong and irresponsible and we are creating a bigger problem by not addressing it now. But the selfishness of the me generation keeps taking and taking and thinking it wont happen. Its like the buy now and pay later deals that are pushed so much and we just get deeper and deeper in debt. Its all going to crumbling down and mankind will see that they are not so invincible. Thank God we have a savior who will come in the nick of time. But for those who choose to reject God well all I can say is more of the same for them.
