I made no such claim.

Then why are you stating it was posted only as an edification to Christians?

Because it was posted primarily as an attempt to inform Christians who might be unfamiliar with the info and not with the purpose of instigating heated debates with atheists. However, the forum allows feedback from atheists and they are free to attempt to debate the points with Christians who enjoy debating such issues if they so wish.

In other words, atheists are welcome to voice their opinions, which will be carefully listened to and then discarded.

Some will discard the opinions and others will accept the opinions.

Classic argument from ignorance: It's complicated, therefore god.

Nope, classic argument from common sense. You wanna know what's ignorant? Thinking something so complicated just happened. even the most minuscule particle of dust couldn't just happen, yet people still believe all that is out there, did just that.

Matter of fact, it's so ignorant it's all I can do not to burst out laughing at the idea, even though it's no laughing matter, it's just sad people are so intent on not seeing what is so obvious, as well as obliviously not....Mind boggling.

BTW
I find the whole presence of atheists on this Christian website as odd.

I know, it's like what do true Christians hurt? Why are these people trying to convince us we should not be someone who at least tries to do good, especially with all the bad in the world? What do they care if we've deluded ourselves? how could that, if it were a fact possibly hurt us or anyone else on the planet?

Honestly, them doing as they do here is about as funny as DNA just kinda happening on it's own. :)

I've yet to see a non-christian on this site to make such an argument.

I've seen christians who state that any good deed don't matter since the world will be destroyed anyway, though.

Actually, the term itself begs to differ..."common" sense.
Yes, people call it "common" sense, but when you dig a little deeper than "don't stick a fork into the electric outlet", differences quickly appear.

For example, to me (random example that has nothing to do with the thread), it's common sense that when you say that you appear at 1.00 pm, you should be there 5 minutes before that time. For other people, it might be 15 minutes before that, or up to 10 minutes after that, or even "somewhere around noon-ish".

Common sense varies between cultures and upbringings, as well as between peer groups in those cultures.

Yeah but the subject here is really that simple to me...not a lot of differences.

It's like seeing a gorgeous car and some guy claiming it just appeared here...we'd all just laugh at him, and the guy who said he created it, would get a standing ovation.

This video provides reasons why DNA is definite evidence that there is indeed a creator.

Good point, the genetic code points to a Creator. Based on what we know codes are the product of intelligence. Applying a known cause to explain a past event is called an inference to the best explanation. Since it's based on what we know the charge of an argument from ignorance doesn't apply in this case.

Well, for me, the subject is quite simple too, but we DO reach different conclusions. So either we have different kinds of "common sense" or one of us is silly.

If science was only this easy

It can be...I have a science experiment for us, easy science. Take one Grandma, one rocking chair, a couple of knitting needles and some yarn. Then a whole room of empty space, and lets make a...well, how bout a Christmas stocking?

We cut Grandma loose with her yarn in the living room. Then do nothing with the empty room but wait, aaaand, GO!

OK, Grandma is just finishing up, and for those who are still watching the empty space, if and when you get tired or give up, let us know what you conclude, otherwise, wait as long as you like

If you are still waiting, you don't want to know what I'm concluding right now, I mean besides the obvious. :)

The statement that "something came from nothing" or "scientists believe that there was nothing, and then the nothing exploded in the big bang, creating everything" shows an overly simplistic view of the etablished science surrounding it.

The argument from incredulity is a logical fallacy that occurs when someone decides that something did not happen, because they cannot personally understand how it could happen.

The fallacy is an argument from ignorance and an informal fallacy.

What's ignorant is thinking that it all either "just happened" in a godless universe or that otherwise it must have directly created by God in six days in 4004 BC--and that all those who do not embrace the second alternative must be atheists.

I could see that coming, simply because it always does, yet, from nothing is basically all the arguments ever really offer here, but when someone actually says the words, it's always denied. It really is all you have without God in the picture. But there is the old classic that I can't explain where God came from, except to say he has always been, and only because he said so, so you can relax knowing you do have that.

The argument from incredulity is a logical fallacy that occurs when someone decides that something did not happen, because they cannot personally understand how it could happen.

The fallacy is an argument from ignorance and an informal fallacy.

So are you saying that's what Atheists do all the time, because they cannot personally understand how a God could have always existed, or how this one entity could create the entire universe? It sounds like that's exactly what you are saying.

Or, are you saying faith in God is that very argument? if so, might as well save it for at least somewhere other than a Christian website....seems like a pretty logical idea to me anyway.

And I really do wish some of you would get some new material. :)
