  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well when I think of 'diseased meat' I think of parasites and the "stay at home mother" reminds me of parasites (umm, no offence?). :sorry:

I mean in the sense that a woman lives completely dependently off her husband, what happens if her husband dies?... She moves on, well some parasites do that, she could also die other parasites do that... She becomes independent? Some spiders do that.
I take no offence, but I don't agree with you.
While I am financially dependent upon my husband, he is dependent on me for many things, one being the raising of our children. I stay at home so I can teach and nurture our children, to give them stability, to help them learn faith (first in me & hubby, later in God). It is a descision we made jointly, not one that I forced upon him.

If I were parasitical, he would not have had a say, nor would he be gaining anything from it. We've realized that, while I could go and work, it's not worth it (to him or me) to put our children in daycare or school, right now.

Yes I agree...I mean sure a stay at home mom could be parasitical (heck, any person who stays at home OR works could be parasitical if they just depend on others for everything), but being a stay at home mom is an important job too. Or a stay at home dad. It's not something I would choose to do but I respect those who do it:)

 My own dear mother stays at home to look after her 6 children, make food, clean the house and do chores. All day. She gets up at 6am every morning and doesn't go to bed until midnight. If anybody suggested to her that she was a parasite, I think they'd get a slap ;) She may be financially dependent on my dad but she works for it. I realise that this doesn't apply to all mothers but I think most mothers work very hard.
Note: No real offense taken, just got a different view on this.

OH MY NO! That is more of a symbiotic relationship than a parasitic one. All parties involved benefit from what the other is doing and couldn't do what they did without that relationship. For example, the working man with a wife who is a stay at home mom may enjoy the time to devote to his career AND the benefits of family, something he might not be able to do otherwise. And the stay at home mom gets the financial benefits AND the opportunity to raise her children, something that would be difficult as a single person. And the kids don't do too bad either. WORK =/= VALUE.

When I said completely dependent, I didn't mean just in the monetary aspect, I mean as in the wife won't even make her own decisions or tell her children what to do "without her husbands approval".
HAhaha oh well then! Nevermind! I don't know that kind of woman :)

The responses have been fantastic in my honest opinion. ;)
Oh, well that's different! However, I don't know a woman like this. I will admit that hubby and I make a lot of descisions together, since we see ourselves as a team when it comes to marriage and parenting. But there are many times when I make an unilateral descision and simply inform him of it later.

If American and British and Australian women want to get fat and want to get drunk and take illegal drugs and then have sex with lot of different men and catch sexual transmitted Diseases and get pregnant by strangers and then have abortions that is there right to do so.

On the other hand don’t go on about freedom and freedom of speech and then complain when you hear something you don’t like

If American and British and Australian women want to dress modestly and if we want to remain virgins until we fall in love with a good man and get married and then have a baby and stay at home to raise our babies than that is our right to do so.
But then what isn't a woman's "right" today?

trillions you say?

Well certainly there are more than just two "lifestyles". Maybe not trillions, but every person has their own way of living, so I guess there's at least one lifestyle for every person on earth...
