When I said completely dependent, I didn't mean just in the monetary aspect, I mean as in the wife won't even make her own decisions or tell her children what to do "without her husbands approval".

Having grown up in Texas around several Southern Baptists and having seen a few posts from certain people on these boards this is their idea of the perfect wife i.e. "submit to the husband in all things."

Or, every person, male or female, could rely on themselves to not do anything dishonourable and not care about what other people say. And fall in love with a good person. That part sounds good. But you can't always control who you love

Since the OP is prima facie silly, a semantic nitpick: Meat can be contaminated but not diseased. A disease is an affliction unique to living things.

Well when I think of 'diseased meat' I think of parasites and the "stay at home mother" reminds me of parasites (umm, no offence?).

Childcare and housekeeping services are quite expensive

My husband has never had to play the "wife, submit" card. He much prefers to tell me the "whys and wherefores" of his opinion and listen to mine. We've never, since marriage, had a disagreement we couldn't reason out of. Hubby's also never felt disrespected by me in these situations, nor have I felt trodden on, nor have we had a knock-down-drag-out fight.
While I believe I should submit should we come to an impasse, it hasn't happened in 8 years of marriage.
