Laodicean,

The face of our Lord Jesus Christ is the only face of God that we can look upon in our flesh, even in our adopted bodies.

The Father will forever be revealed to us only through the Spirit of Jesus.

The Spirit is from the beginning. Even then the Father was clouded in the pavilion of darkness. The angels who minister before him cover their faces with two of their wings. They behold the Father's face in the light shining from the face of Jesus at the Father's right hand.

If this is true, how would this impact our view of Isaiah 66:23-24?

BFA
BFA,

It is true, even now, through the earnest of the Spirit, we drink the cup of salvation and swallow death (through the faith of the operation of God), and it is purified and passes out the channel of waste/destruction.

2 Cor 4:10-14
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. KJV

Thanks to Stormy for starting this thread and for all who have participated along the way. It allowed me to explore once again the reasons why I'm not a Seventh-day Adventist and it helped me better understand the reasons why others are. I've appreciated the two-way dialogue and the generally constructive tone that we've enjoyed in this thread. It was particularly nice to explore a variety of topics (without focusing primarily on "the law" and "the sabbath" as we tend to do in other threads). I'm hoping for similarly constructive threads in the future.

Thanks again!

I just really enjoyed this thread and so I thought I'd bump it up to the top for any newbies who may join us.

BFA
BFA,

SdA doctrine is the doctrine of christian weakness, since it resorts to days and foods as being holy unto the Lord.

Until the perfection of love that suffers long comes to us, we are all under some form of food and days; whether it be for worship or for science.

I hope our purpose is to edify the weaker brethren and not to expose them as Ham exposed his father's (Noah) weakness.

Let us treat our brethren as we would our own children.

1 Cor 9:19-23
19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.

20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;

21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.

22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. KJV

When Paul matured in Christ, he shaved his head for his brethren at Jerusalem. This occurred on the 4th and last trip that he made to Jerusalem. He was not prepared for this humility in ministry in his earlier trips. His first return to Jerusalem was a doctrinally controversial encounter. The second was to bring offerings for the poor. The third was over the controversy at Antioch, but still he witnessed to the power of Christ to the Gentile converts.

Paul desired to doctrinally educate the brethren at Jerusalem and Rome. The Lord reserved that work for others. Jerusalem and Rome were the ministry of suffering for Paul.

In light of the considerate tone of this thread, I am confident the motives were far less nefarious than that. This thread included open, respectful dialogue among people who had very different viewpoints.

Perhaps wolves have been seen where there are only sheep.

I hope folks will take the time peruse this thread on their own.

BFA
BFA,

Matt 7:15
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. KJV

These wolves cannot be seen. They have two horns like a lamb.

The lamb standing as it were in the midst of the throne has 7 horns.

Although passersby will find polite disagreement in this thread, I doubt they will find any false prophets.
