Your thoughts about the Dinos are interesting, and I had not considered it before.
I would say it is highly likely that extinction was forced on several species based on present human actions.
Any animal which was dangerous or contained useful materials would be in great danger of extinction.
The idea that many of the large "dangerous" animals were extinct is a logical conclusion.
If the animals laid eggs, it would be an easy ( and nutritious ) process.
So far so good.
The only problem I have with your idea is that it conflicts with the purpose of the garden of Eden.
What was the point of protecting the garden of Eden from man kinds interference if it was not to preserve the original animal species for future distribution after the flood.
Because the universe was still merged, and if fallen man got back in and ate of the tree of life, he would have sort of reverse flipped the death switch, and lived forever in a sinful state!
Animals which were outside the garden of Eden would degenerate by mutation into a less desirable form and would produce a fossil record different from the original species taken in the ark.
Unless there were no animals outside of Eden! (Save some trilobites and some creatures busy preparing the earth for our eventual spread, that went into high gear all of a sudden with the fall)
I ran over this kind of quick as I assumed you are very familiar with the Bible creation story.
If you need specif referenced please indicated the statement in question.

So did I, but I think I covered the bases.
