  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

do you guys normally take pictures with digital cam? (i'm not talking about professionals, just in normal circumstances, say going out with friends or family members)

I like the use of digital pictures in that you don't have to develop the negatives, put the photos in an envelop and send it off overseas or somewhere far away. Only upload it onto the com and click to send. :)
My bro just bought one and it was so interesting...!! hehe. Now i can send pics without worrying about a scanner, and can send all i want.

Though i still prefer flipping through an album more than seeing pics off a site.

The beauty is that you can still have them printed too. And you can go trigger crazy and it won't cost you as much because you just keep the ones you want, delete the rest, and print the really good ones.
I love my digital.

I use my digital camera all the time! I like that I can delete the shots that don't turn out, and get only the best ones printed. I have fantastic photos of my children that I otherwise wouldn't have because I have been able to take so many pictures of them so cheaply. Plus I have been trying out artistic photos and getting creative with my digital camera.

It depends what you want to do with it. My favorite site for digital camera reviews is http://www.steves-digicams.com/

Spend a while reading through the different models to get a feel for what options are available, and what trade-offs you'll have to make. In general, there are three points: cost, functionality, and compactness. If you wish to reduce cost, you'll have decrease functionality or compactness (ie: make it bigger). There aren't many wrong choices, just wrong for you.

I agree. Another thing is stretch your budget really as far as you can go. I bought mine with the idea to only use it to take pictures for my digital newsletters. Now I can kick myself for not going just one model up(something I could have easily done) because It rekindled the interest in photography and now I am "stuck" with 2. mega pixels. So yes get something that suits your requirements, but if there is a chance of you wanting to later do more than snapshots, go for the best you can afford. You will never regret it.

From what I've read, if you are only enlarging to 8.5x11, 3 mega pixels is all you need - anything more is overkill. For a point and shoot, don't get suckered into buying more than you can possibly use, like a 5 or 8 megapixel camera! (And for the rare cases where you'd want to blow up to 13x19, photoshop will let you do this without any visible digital artifacts.)

man, dont get me wrong , i love the control of a standard 35mm, but it is so much cheaper for me to be able to only print out the pictures i want. all the pics i post in these threads are digital. and digital cameras come pretty darn cheap nowadayz

my canon A70 can go fully manual...and it has shutter and apature priority. its not the greates but i have alot of control and i still don't know what im doing half the time....im used to my old Olympus wich is collecting dust. you have just as much control with digial as regular 35mm film...
