"Evil" is a deliberate action meant to cause harm to another individual or their property. Sin is stuff God doesn't like.
God sees all uncovered sin as evil, but people who have their sins covered still might wander into sin unintentionally which, in a sense, is not "deliberately" evil. If that person makes a timely response to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, they should be fine.
So the issue is I'm discussing terms that apply differently to those who know the truth about sin? For example, most people only view the most high ranking of sins as evil.

Evil is something to do with the power of Satan, a terrible presence, dark and distructive. I would not want evil in my life.
sin is action, doing wrong things, ...and when you realize what you have done there is that knowing and asking forgiveness of God. 'For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God'
Evil is a deliberate intention to participate in wrong doing, inviting darkness into your life by the intention.
Thank God for John 3
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
Being at odds with God is, by His reckoning, evil (and can't stand in His presence). So the issue is I'm discussing terms that apply differently to those who know the truth about sin? For example, most people only view the most high ranking of sins as evil.

When our sins are covered [by Jesus' blood], we are no longer considered evil, but some of our behaviors may still be unknowingly inappropriate. That is where God begins the sanctification process. Being covered [in the Blood] and surrendered to Him avails us of His grace.

1 John 5:17
All unrighteousness is sin:
First mention of evil is in the Garden of Eden
Genesis 2:9
And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Eve Transgressed the Law of God by taken the fruit of the tree, as God had told her not to do that.
1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Numbers 32:13
And the Lord'S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the Lord, was consumed. (they disobeyed God )
So evil=sin
That's similar to how I see it. If someone does something that's considered to be a sin, but they don't know it's a sin, and it isn't deliberate malicious intent to damage or harm, then it's not evil but still apparently a sin. Like eating pork or shellfish, apparently.
So you wouldn't give the word's descriptions to terms of immoral behavior importance? Some people use the term evil to describe malevolence.
Is depraved the same as evil?
No. It is an utter disregard for God (and His Kingdom). So evil is sinning knowingly?
I wouldn't quite say the same, but sort of. Dictionary.com defines depraved as "corrupt, wicked, or perverted" (and has "evil" as a synonym a bit down the page, while evil is defined as "morally wrong or bad; immoral;wicked:
2.
harmful; injurious:". They both have almost identical meanings but I see depraved being used more often to say something is perverted, rather than maliciously harmful.

so depraved means a crazy form of immoral behavior?
