Except for the NFL, fire departments, and roads, those are all socialistic programs. You didn't know?
The NFL is socialism in practice
The bottom ranked teams get the first shot at the best new players in each year’s draft

The salary cap structure makes it difficult to keep a dominant team together for more than a few years, and generally prevents dynasties from forming - the New England Patriots have stayed so good for so long by constantly cycling through new talent rather than by signing a lot of expensive superstars

In the provision that is the closest to actual socialism, the league’s TV revenues are equally shared among all of the teams, giving every team a lucrative guaranteed income stream

Tonight spelled it out clearly.
Trump looks to a bright future.
Biden is gloom and doom.

I have a hunch that this is the way it will tend to go from here until November. It's as though the liberals decided to 'talk positive,' and tried it out at the Convention...but it didn't work well.

The best that could be done was to throw out a few words like "Light" or "Hope," so focused has the party been for the past four years on tearing things down.

No, that's just business. It's socialism when government gets involved. Charity and patronage of artists is not socialism, if individuals or private corporations do it. Socialism requires government.

Trump is now down 0.2 points in the Real Clear Politics average of polls from when his convention started.

Biden is up 0.8 from his after the democrat convention. Not much "bounce" for either of them, but a little, as each convention gave America a little better look at the candidates.

While Biden and the Democrats talked about hope and the way America can recover from it's current disasters, Trump and Co. focused on gloom and scare talk:

Painting a picture of horrors he claims await Americans if Democrat Joe Biden defeats him in November, President Donald Trump capped the 2020 Republican National Convention on Thursday by accepting his party’s presidential nomination for the second time.
...
He also took aim at Biden, claiming his election would lead to an economic collapse and violence in American cities.

Here are the key moments from President Trump's Republican National Convention speech

Trump is always optimistic about the pandemic, though. He's still claiming a vaccine will be ready by election day. He really, really hopes it will, anyway.

However, Trump misleads about the American death toll by citing case fatality rates. Because the virus has spread rapidly in the U.S., it ranks among the worst countries in deaths as a share of population.

The U.S. has had 54.93 deaths per 100,000 people, the 11th highest in the world.

But he says it's going to one day just go away "like a miracle."

Referred to in the bible as Public Works
not socialism

Sorry, that's socialism. Yes, some Hebrew practices were socialistic. But in the U.S. fire departments were private associations for a very long time. As were roads.

You have it totally backwards.

Actually that's not true. Socialism just requires the social ownership of the means of production. The government doesn't need to be involved.

So if charity and corporate support for museums and the arts is "socialistic", where does it end? After all, a corporation is a social ownership of a company.

social

adjective Of or relating to human society and its modes of organization.
social - definition and meaning

This might be more supportive of your definition:
so•cial•ism sō′shə-lĭz″əm

  • n.
Any of various theories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
But then, a corporation would be socialism.

Perhaps you should. Yours seems to be lying to you. You have it totally backwards.

It was Trump and Co. howling in the darkness, and promoting fear.

I thought they nationalized all the corporations? So you're saying it's better to have government socialism, but no private socialism?

Seriously?

Good grief. Do posters just make this stuff up as needed? I have rarely read something as silly as the above.

What do you suppose "social ownership" means if not government control of the means of production? We're not talking about a monastery or a condominium here, you know!

There's a transitional case in Iowa. Or rather was. The Amana colonies were a group of towns, where everyone held everything in common, as close as they could get to the earliest Christian communities. So socialistic that the houses didn't have kitchens. Everyone ate in communnal dining halls. There was no government forcing people to do this; but it was socialistic to the point of communism.

By the 1930s, they felt it needed change, so they made it a corporation, and issued stock to every member. And that was that. Unless you take the literal meaning of "socialistic" and consider corporations to be socialism as well.
