Good grief. Do posters just make this stuff up as needed? I have rarely read something as silly as the above.

What do you suppose "social ownership" means if not government control of the means of production? We're not talking about a monastery or a condominium here, you know!
Co-ops are a form of socialism. The people who are doing the labor own the company and get the benefits, not whoever happens to have enough capital to invest.

Yes, there are a lot of worker-owned companies like Hy-Vee stores in the Midwest. And those too would be "socialistic" under the definition.

And what about a water district, where people basically belong to an agency that provides water to rural customers?

Or an HOA, which is not a government, but provides services and has the power to punish violaters?

Co-ops are a form of socialism.

There's a problem here. But it still surprises me, even thought it's not rare.

I'm referring to the fact that people will argue most passionately that Socialism is what would be great for everybody...but then they follow that up by turning themselves into pretzels trying to say thate Socialism (which is supposed to be so good for everyone) isn't really Socialism after all.

Why is that, do you think? Most advocates of Christianity or vegetarianism or almost any other way of life are candid and outspoken about that which they are promoting, not apologetic.

If America is so great, why is he trying to reinvent it as an oligarchy? Why is he trying to consolidate power within the Executive Branch (with the help of his henchman the Attorney General?) Why does he demand complete immunity and no accountability? Why is he pulling out of treaties and offending our international allies?

Why is he trying to eliminate the fourth estate--our press and media?

Why does he admire and court the vilest dictators on our planet--Putin, Kim Jung Un, Bolsanaro, Erdogan? Why does he imitate their playbooks in his own behavior in the White House?

Why does he believe Putin instead of our own intelligence agencies and generals?

He is pretending--in this convention--that he isn't pushing our country away from representative democracy by all of the above--along with voter suppression and gerrymandering--into the kind of government we were taught as children was dangerous.

I guess I'll have to add that to the numerous lies that have already been uncovered in his acceptance speech.

You pretty much have to live by yourself in a cave to avoid all socialism.

Difference between DNC Convention and RNC Convention

Thursday was Day 27 that millions of unemployed American families have gone without receiving federal government benefits that were terminated at the end of July!

Despite all the rhetoric, did this President or the RNC speakers make any mention of those who are currently jobless through no fault of their own, or any attempts by the Republicans to restore their funding?

Which RNC speaker(s) addressed these problems and what was the Republican strategy for solving it - other than blaming the Democrats?

That's why I'm a conservative.
We stay away from hate.
Although God hates many, many things.

I think of you as the exception and not the rule because there have been times when I've forgotten that I'm talking to someone who professes Christ when I'm talking to a conservative who supports Trump. I've even seen it on this Christian site with the petty insults and mockery toward Biden ("his handlers," "he lives in a basement," "he can't find his keys," and other cruel disparaging remarks).

Difference between DNC Convention and RNC Convention

1) I went to the Republican National Convention website

The 2020 Republican National Convention - Republican National Convention

2) clicked on media

3) typed in a Search for each of the following
"hunger,"
"hunger in America"
"unemployment in America"

4) this was the response - if the Republican speakers at the Convention did address a rescue package to alleviate hunger and foreclosures for the millions of currently unemployed Americans and their families, they're keeping it a well kept secret

Nothing found!
It looks like nothing was found here. Maybe try a search?

according to the RNC speeches, the Pres & his family live in a totally different America than the rest of us

don't see the America they paint it to be

America today, HE OWNS
4 yrs....the disasters are HIS and his alone, his failures

lack of leadership leading to more deaths, more hunger, more unemployment, more pollution, etc

don't need more of make America worse and worse

Most of those points are directly opposite to the real situation. Have you actually checked them out?

So, I'd be interested to know what you say to Christians who are liberals and post accusations about the president being a traitor, a fascist or Nazi, a believer in the Holocaust, a child molester, an idiot, etc.

To my way of thinking, mentioning that Biden campaigns from his basement more than he meets the people, and reiterating the many goofs and instances of forgetfulness that he's racked up is nothing by comparison.

You are so lucky that you can blame the President for a disease created in China, because other than for that unexpected turn of events, Trump ended the Great Recession, saw the stock market reach an all-time high, unemployment drop to new lows including the lowest level ever for blacks, no foreign wars (you mentioned deaths), and tax cuts for the Middle Class.

When the pandemic eases and Democratic governors take their feet off the necks of their people again (if they do), you'll see all or most of this resume.

That's why I'm a conservative.

It's not just conservatives who hate. It's just that hate is a requirement for some of them, now that Trump owns them. There are conservatives who don't hate. The Lincoln Project for example. And dozens of present and former republican officeholders who have rejected Trump's message of hatred.

WHOLE world saw pandemic coming except him

Obama left instruction booklet even
everyone knows pandemics occur every 100 yrs

he pretended it wouldn't arrive until too late
he doesn't care about lives lost

he wants testing stopped so it looks like virus is gone
who does that?

yes, he's to blame for many lives lost by not acting sooner!
