Didn't know where else to ask this....

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. I am wondering what happens to people who can not grasp the concept of salvation? For example my brother and brother in law, both have downs syndrome. What happens to them when they die?

Keep in mind it is not our job to place judgement on others by saying "how would God judge them?". God is the only one who is just, who are we to intercede? I remind myself of God's justice & His love when I think to myself "what will happen to all those non-Christians who are good people according to my opinion? (ie my parents). Then I remember I'm not the one in charge and thank God for that

There is a story of Jesus in one of the Gospels (cant remember the reference) when people were asking him things like "what will happen to those who were crushed under the collapsing tower? Were they worse sinners than us? What did they do wrong to deserve this?" and Jesus basically told them not to worry that's God's job. You're job is to repent & have faith. Let God take care of the rest.

This is what I believe also. You can't be help accountable for something that you have no knowledge of.

I do not feel I was placing judgement on anyone. I think everyone thinks of family and friends in regards to their salvation. I know for me I want to be a witness for the Lord. And I love some people who as to no fault of their own will probably never accept Christ as their savior. Was not judging. Just curious.

This is kind of off subject, but we are held accountable for the people that we come in contact with and we do not present the gospel to them. We are commanded in The Great Commission to go out and present the Gospel to the ends of the earth, Baptizing them in the Name of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Dianna, just to echo Snoochface, I tend to belive that as long as they have not reached that age of accountability ( and if differs from person to person) that you have nothing to worry about.

I've known a Christian who has Down's Syndrome (at least I think it was Down's). He was pretty new to the faith when I met him, his parents are not believers. There's hope for your brothers.

Such people (infants and imbeciles (no offence intended) - all who, for whatever reason or to whatever degree, cannot be held morally accountable for their own actions etc.) are in a state of grace and as such are to be entrusted to the inscrutable mercies of God.

To make such a blatant statement is to presume upon the exclusive perogative of God as judge of his Creation and to go beyond what the Scriptures actually teach. The Scriptures DO NOT teach that such people are automatically 'saved'. They teach that God, as judge of all the Earth, will always do what is right (Gen.18:25; Ps.99:4). To say more than this is sheer presumption. As with every aspect of human existence we are to trust God in this area too and not presume to second guess him simply to try and satiate our insatiable desire to know at all costs. The line between faith and presumption is a very fine line indeed.
