What's your favorite thing about Christmas?
Like any heavy metal bands?
Favorite TV show?
Infantile nonsense is what keeps you young!!Now answer the other questions mister.

Ah, you must be one of those serious guys?Yeah, I guess so. I just couldn't believe it, though. I'm just too logical.![]()
Ah, you must be one of those serious guys?
And you still haven't answered my other questions:
What's your favorite thing about Christmas?
Like any heavy metal bands?
Favorite TV show?
Post#62, my dear.Oops!! My bad!My favourite thing(s) about Christmas are the decorations and the FOOD!!!
Heavy Metal bands? How many? Well, how long is a piece of string? It depends on what you class as heavy metal, but I like Rage against the Machine, Queens of the stone age, Feeder, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Sound Garden, System of a Down, Velvet Revolver (Great name!), Foo Fighters, Oasis, Guns n Roses (Welcome to the Jungle); just to name a few.
As much as I like the aggressive energy in Heavy Metal, I'm careful that what I'm listening to isn't completely soaked in hatred, because for me, it only eats away at me until I'm tired.
Hmmm, TV. Frasier is/was very good. I do like The Simpsons too. Ooooooooo, I know!
24. The best thing on Television. EVER.
Oops!! My bad!And oh my gosh!!!! Okay....I think we are kindred spirits...
1. Yep, food we get at Christmas-time is yummy, wait all year.
2. My other friend there in England, whom I met on here, was the first to share Iron Maiden with me, and I LOVE their stuff!!! Also like Nirvana and Chili Peppers. And like you, just have to be careful to weed out certain songs.
3. Frasier and Simpsons, best comedies on TV....EVER. And 24!!!!!! Just spent the last couple months watching from beginning, am totally addicted now!!!! Still have a few to go to be all caught up, but....well....Jack rocks!!!
And you are soooo polite, how nice.![]()
What's the most shocking thing you've ever done?
It depends how you define shocking. Can't I just plead the fifth? I think its the 5th Amendment that prevents me from incriminating myself, isn't it?As I am new to Maiden, that's all I have as well, the 2-disc set. My favorites are The Trooper and Sign of the Cross. And yep, Nirvana too, the only CD I have is Unplugged, but I like it best.Wow, that's great. My mum likes 24 too, the only bad thing is when it's on TV and you have to wait a WHOLE WEEK to find out what happens. We still haven't seen Day 5 yet, but we're hoping to get it for Christmas.
I love the scripts for Frasier, Kelsey Grammer is Hilarious. And the Simpsons, well, I don't really need to say anything. I only have the Greatest Hits albums for Iron Maiden and Nirvana, but I might get "Rock in Rio" by Iron Maiden (their Live album). I think 2 Minutes to Midnight, Wasted Years and The Wicker Man are my favourites.
Have you read Antony Kiedis' Autobiography? It's quite an insight into why and how The Chilli's sound the way they do. Mainly a lifetime of Drug abuse and interesting characters, but a very good read.
Thanks for complimenting me on my manners, I'm not sure how they come across exactly on a Forum, but they're free, so there's little excuse not to use them. Although, I'm far from being perfect, so please don't think I'm above being bad (albeit only occassionally, your Honour).
As for the most shocking thing I've done, well.It depends how you define shocking. Can't I just plead the fifth? I think its the 5th Amendment that prevents me from incriminating myself, isn't it?
I could tell you what I haven't done?
Ok, I'll behave now. When I might have been about 16, a friend and I might have got a layout of our school and we might have planned to sneak inside in the dead of night. We may or may not have been unsuccessful in getting into any of the buildings, and so we might've just given up and gone back to my friends house to play Playstation games until 3am. Or not.

Glad you haven't done anything too terrible....or not.
Ever been in love?
So sorry! Deepest apologies, must be old age setting in.Wow, that's a good question. I thought I was once, but they called it puppy love, it wasn't fully grown.
Sorry, I couldn't resist (can you smell the cheesyness?).![]()
It was more of an infatuation with a friend who wanted compassion, which I was willing to give. I'd like to think that I've grown since I was 17, enough to build adult friendships that at least could provide a stable basis for love, if it was appropriate.
It's funny how back then, it seemed so important and now it's merely a distant memory. I'll take baby steps from now on; you can't rush God.![]()
So sorry! Deepest apologies, must be old age setting in.Ok, so hope i'm forgiven. Your own fault! You're too charming, makes me nervous!
Ok then, your thoughts on Machiavelli? (I don't know much, lol, my future son-in-law is a poli-sci major.)
Great, excellent point! Thanks!Well, to be honest, I didn't know much until you asked me. Thank goodness for Google.Even now, I'm merely familiar with Niccolo Machiavelli and his books. As far as I know, he (and he alone?) has formed the concept of "neccessary evil", but such actions are only justified when they serve the greater good/the good of the nation/the majority, and not when the goal is individual gain. It would seem that most people have missed that crucial point, which resulted in an undeservedly bad reputation for poor Nicci.
Although he probably didn't know it (because he was dead), he influenced Thomas Hobbes, the author of Leviathan. Apparently, this is the basis for nearly all subsequent Western Political Philosophy.
I guess you could take that as Machiavelli in a nut shell; overall he's a fairly smart chap.
BTW, it was never my intention to make you or anyone else nervous, but I think you may have given me a glimpse into why people react to me in the way they do. If you could explain what you meant exactly, it would be quite useful to me, mainly so I can adjust my approach to people, if needed. Thanks Leslie.
P.S. Don't worry about the memory lapse, it happens to us all. Sometimes when I'm watching the Simpsons, the advert break is SO long, I forget what programme I'm watching.
Great, excellent point! Thanks!
Seems you're very close to your family, admirable, would ever move far away?
To be honest, I think you'd have to know me to know what was odd about me. There's nothing that spring to my mind, at least.Any odd skills?
Good analogy, and you're right. I have so much fun learning from my other friend on here about England. So many similarities, and then suddenly a shocking difference, lol. It's fun. We are a big country, huge. And you're right about the kids leaving, seems to be the way it goes. And you might not stay gone forever anyhow. Have you a state in mind you might like to live here?I know they say that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone, but I do wonder what it would be like to live abroad. To be honest, England is SO small, compared to the US, that even if you move to the opposite end of the country, it's not that far. Having spent a little time abroad, including America, I'd say that moving to a different country seems quite enjoyable.
Sure, it's nice to be near your family, but there comes a point were you've got to do what's right for you. I don't mean that in a selfish way, and I think it's just a part of life (usually) for the child to leave the parent, and for the parent to trust in their offspring's judgement.
I'd like to see more of America too; I think its interesting how our cultures are so similar, yet so distinctive. Kinda like Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate, if you know what I mean.

Unless you count politeness as being odd?I've met people that do.....
I would love to, thanks!!! I love RV'ing, not that much trouble, really nice cuz you've got essentially your home with you. Good option!!
Where would you start your trek, i'm in Oregon btw, lol.
