It's been updated, and updated. I have a couple of them. One is in the 1600's spelling and the other one is modern spelling/alphabet but ye olde wording/vocabulary.so old enough.
My understanding is that most people mean an 1800's update when they say KJV. I think that I do, or that perhaps mine is even newer than that.
I get your point.but prefer it now
I was the opposite but the older language is growing on me.
I still use an NRSV daily but my RSV is looking better to me recently, for exactly the reason you mention. The print is a bit small for my aging eyes but its still not too bad. I'm considering getting my RSV rebound to make it more posh somehow.
My KJV (modern spelling) is more likable to me now than a few years ago. It's fairly good and to the point. I like it as an audio bible as well. The language is a bit flowery but at the same time, it's not dumbed-down to the point of absurdity and it's quite clear. I'm reading it more and more now.
Regarding older language, the RSV still wins though, for me at least. I may end up going all KJV in the future, you never know.
