The issue is not whether God rested every week after creation but the clear commandment that WE should rest as a memorial to the work He has done for US. The bible is replete with instruction from God for HIS PEOPLE (hopefully you are one) to continue to honor the day He created FOR US. Both blessing and curses are attached to how HIS PEOPLE treat the Sabbath. Furthermore, to say that to say that it was NOT given at creation is incorrect and unscriptural.[/quote]
Please post the scriptures with commentary where the context proves the wording of Gen 2:1-3 is considered by a prophet or apostle. This text
It's always best to read not only the "context" but the final POINT that was being made in that context:
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
His children now are no different than his children back then. Could it be that there was a reason He wrote REMEMBER the Sabbath... because he foreknew that we would FORGET; Just as we (God's people at the time) did before?
