The bible is replete with instruction from God for HIS PEOPLE (hopefully you are one) to continue to honor the day He created FOR US. You missed it...... There is clear distintion that God's rest from creation was not given until God offered it to the Jew's who did not enter because of unbelief. Sorry this is not talking about the Sabbath day of rest given as a sign, but rather a spiritual rest.
This qoute from the Psalms make it clear that those people in question were the Children of Israel, not Adam.

When God said "Remember the Sabbath to keep it Holy" this was a firm command going forward, that simply means; "dont forget to keep the sabbath holy". The remainder of the wording of this commandment explains, who, how and why to keep the Sabbath.
By using Commentary to isolate the word 'remember' as if the intent is to take you back to creation is a mischaracterization of the facts.
The following verse (Ex20:11) properly takes you back to God's rest in creation. The commentary created about Ex20:8 contradicts prophets and apostles, who used the OT and the Holy Spirit to write to us.

(verse 8 is actually the command as clarified by Moses in Deut 5:12 only. People who try to refute the Sabbath, in order to justify their disobedience, will say things like, "We no longer have to remember the Sabbath because Jesus worked on the Sabbath thus making the Sabbath unemportant for Christians under the New Covenant". If this were true that would make Jesus a transgressor of the Law and thus would make Him a sinner.

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

But those who love God and have His Spirit dwelling in them know this is so far from the truth.

So how do Sabbath refuters justify saying Jesus violated the Sabbath by working on the Sabbath?

They use verses such as Matthew 12:1-5.

Here we have Jesus being accused of a Sabbath violation because they were picking grain on the Sabbath. This was considered work by the religious men of Jesus' time. But listen to how Jesus responds to their accusations.

Then Jesus said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: "how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? "Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?

Jesus' response teaches us two very important Sabbath keeping principles.

1. Anything that is done on the Sabbath that relates to taking care of a necessary need (hunger, healing, saving an animal and so on) is not a violation of the Sabbath and is not considered normal, unecessary or just everyday work.

2. Anything done on the Sabbath that relates to service to God is not a violation of the Sabbath (pot luck clean up, serving and so on).

We can also understand from the words of Jesus that these principles were not new to the New Covenant only but were also Old Covenant principles as well. The religious Jews should have known this if they were not so self-righteous and proud.

The word Sabbath means to rest or cease. It's a way to acknowledge something special about a day but it's not what makes the day special, the day is special so God calls it a sabbath.

There are many sabbaths in the Bible so it's up to us to study to learn why a certain day was declared a sabbath.

This list of festivals, sabbaths, drink and food offerings all came a result of sin.

God used them as shadows to symbolically paint a picture of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus fulfilled those shadows.

Hebrews 9:9-10 It was symbolic for the present time in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make him who performed the service perfect in regard to the conscience concerned only with foods and drinks, various washings, and fleshly ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.

But the seventh day of creation was not part of the fall nor was it used as a shadow or part of the sacrifical system, which all came as a result of sin. The seventh day was blessed, sanctified and called holy as part of creation before sin was in the world. All the washings, food, drink, festivals, new moons and sabbaths that came as result of the fall were established because of sin. Forgetting to keep the seventh day holy is a sin.

We should remember to keep the seventh day holy but not in such a way that we neglect necessary needs of God's living creatures. So yes, the seventh day is still holy but it's lawful to do good on it.

Matthew 12:12 "Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.''

Why does the isolated texts you posted supports a context that is teaching Christians directly......"we're not under the law".
