Gee, you made me blow off the dust of an old book in which I highlighted this passage:

"You do not have to be a Greek and Hebrew scholar to prove that the Watchtower Society has twisted these verses (John 8:58 and Exodus 3:14). Jehovah's Witnesses' own study Bibles prove that Jesus was claiming to be the I AM. Their 1984 large-print New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures with references has a footnote on Exodus 3:14,, admitting that the Hebrew would be rendered into Greek as "Ego eimi" -- "I am." And their 1985 Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures reveals that Jesus' words at John 8:58 are the same; "ego eimi" (footnote), "I am" (interlinear text)."

My former step-father is a JW... who I worked on and prayed over for years. But he has a strong emotional bond with the WBTS since he was contemplating suicide when two witnesses knocked on is door
in the early 1980's.

His son, my half-brother was won over from the WBTS by this passage:

Matthew 24:26-28
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

This passage puts the WBTS claim that Jesus returned invisibly to Brooklyn in 1914 totally to shame... as it does the myth that Jesus returned invisibly to Jerusalem in 70 AD.

I have a book that lists out lots of problems like this one & the revisions that were made later.
Including the court records of their translator (the translator didn't finish his Grk./Heb. language courses at school). It amounted to him not being competent to translate a bible. (it's been awhile since I read it).

Jesus claimed divinity. Showed divinity. Had his prophets record his divinity in both Testaments (New and Old).

Arguments to the contrary are not about facts or evidence gathering but about the lengths human resolve will take people to in order to deny the facts (if only to themselves).

Yeah I think the Watchtower has been laying low for a few years since their prophecies all came home to roost (unfulfilled)... and the flaws in their theology were becoming so well known by the average citizen... what was once a dazzling ploy over ignorance turned into a bloody dash home to mommy for most JW's out in the neighborhoods.

that's pretty typical - when you run out of ammunition, point blame and hope that sticks.

Honestly, as far as this thread is concerned, it wouldn't even matter if we were hostile against Jeh. Wit./Watchtower - it still wouldn't change the solid arguments against their position that were already given.
(which we have yet to see them explain how our scripture evidence works in any unity with their beliefs. So far we see biblical contradiction if they're correct).

My avatar is NWT and below is "The Scriptures" by ISR.... I used NWT and "The Scriptures" in this forum to signify my belief and appreciation for God's name....

But I have nothing to do with the christian sect called Jehovah's Witnesses.... What I have is my own personal belief as a christian reader of the Holy Bible....
