And that's how it is supposed to work. You come across something that is or might be a problem, come up with a possible solution or at least properly characterize the problem and publish it. It does no good trapped in your notes.

The last time I debated creationists online I was stunned by how often I kept repeating "that's how science works".

He does know a lot of ID creationist talking points and can rattle them off. Understanding would be useful.

I think if he understood it, he would also understand why the talking point is so ridiculous.

I still haven't figured out "off sides". It should be fine if you do a toe drag over the blue line...

I think if he understood it, he would also understand why the talking point is so ridiculous.

Offside in association football is basically when a player from Team A is too close to Team B's goal than Team B's second-to-last defender. But it's only an offence in-game when the player from Team A is in active play. Penalty kicks and getting the ball back into play doesn't count as an offside offence.

There is a MASSIVE difference between the creationists you'd make a list of who were people who grew up in time periods when creationism was the only way to understand the world around them, and the creationists of the ICR, CMI, AiG who refuse to accept any scientific knowledge that would go against their interpretations of the Bible.

The former actually wanted to learn about and understand the world around them. The latter... decidedly do nothing of the sort.

That would be fun! I've always wondered what they would say to how often we use our understanding of evolution at work. Earlier I asked @1Tonne what new developments, advancements, and contributions the creationist research programs have achieved but he skipped the question (which I find very revealing).

That would probably be the #1 question I'd ask them.

Yes, I believe Harris’s argument highlights a valid issue, the mismatch between the time available and the number of meaningful changes needed.

This is like pulling teeth... Do you believe that the supposed 30 million functional differences between the human and chimpanzee genomes, which was one of the premises of Harris argument was a correct premise? Do you believe that evolutionary biology/comparative genomics suggests that many functional differences? That was, after all, what I asked you about.

As for proteins: yes, I believe random variation and selection can produce some functional proteins.
