Namaste TexasSky,

thank you for the post.

Elsa,

The fact is, I've probably done more research into Wicca than most self-proclaiming Wiccans.

this is a strange statement to make, to me.

which part of it are you stating as fact? that you probably have done more research or that you have done more research?

self-proclaimed wiccans are wiccans or they are not wiccans?

metta,

~v

again, why should I rely on others opinions? i could just as easily take yours then. God speaks in the here and now to us today, not just in the bible, and not just though scholars. God speaks to me regarding my situation and His word. What do I care what others think and decide? It's MY relationship with Christ. Not theirs.
Why is God telling us all different things? Is the one you worship the God of confusion?

Elsa,

Let me try this ONE MORE TIME.

The bible says, "Six days shalt thou labor."
It does NOT say, "On Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday thou shalt labor."
It says, "6 days."
It says, "On the 7th day rest so that you can recover."

It declares the 7th day to be a Holy day, but again, it doesn't say WHICH of the 7 days of the week is THAT day.

If you are really going to get as technical as you are pretending to get, the fact is, if you start work on Tuesday, your Sabbath should be Monday. And if you start work on Thursday, your Sabbath should be Wednesday.

Exodus makes it clear, the holy day is the day which comes after 6 days of labor. It is the day you are to recover from 6 days of labor.

As to "Sundown to Sundown," if anything, I personally go a bit beyond that. I start my rest from work ON the 6th day, right around dusk, and I don't start work again until AFTER sunrise on the 1st day following the 7th.

And since I do not set aside just one day to honor God, I'm not overly worried about being guilty of not honoring Him on the sixth of the seventh. I pray, I read my bible, every single day of the week. I sing His praises every single day of the week. I fellowship with other Christians ever single day of the week.

What I don't do on the sabbath is work. Whether you want to call it "Saturday or Sunday".
And I always thought that Sunday was the Sabbath because it is the day to honor deus sol invictus.

On the venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country however persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits because it often happens that another day is not suitable for grain-sowing or vine planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.

okay. now explain the context of the two together.

Okay.

There is a certain similarity between Mike Warnke's story of being a "Satanic Priest," and certain explanations of "experiences with wicca." Anyone who points out that there's something flawed in the account is told that they don't know the truth of the religion, etc. However, there's no factual evidence provided to support the position, except some out-of-context quotes.

The Strunk & White...well...some of us still respect the English language, and would like it to be properly used. There's no connection. Oh, except that Strunk & White emphasize the importance of citations and support for claims made.

Now...let's see where this post turns up!

Elsa,

The fact is, I've probably done more research into Wicca than most self-proclaiming Wiccans. I started out with the research as part of a college journalism class. The more I dug, the more amazed I was at how little many people who claim to be Wiccans actually know about what Gardner taught, or about what the so-called leaders of Wicca teach.

I know God's word clearly too.

"Thou shalt have no other God's before me," is the first commandment listed in the bible. Christ, when asked, what is the greatest commandment said, "Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, all thy soul, and all they mind." He also stated, "No man comes unto the Father except by me." And He repeated, in His own ministry, "Thou shalt have no other Gods before me."

Any way you cut it, idol worship is condemned by God.
God freely admits, "I am a jealous God."

The condemnation of witchcraft is not only found in the old testament. It is found in the book of Galations in the new testament. The book of Acts shows that when witchcraft appeared, Paul responded to it by commanding a demon to leave a woman.

To say that one can be both Christian and Wiccan is blaspheme against Christ.

Christ cannot be "your all," if your "all" is the worship of a goddess over god the Father. Note, Wicca does not teach that there is "one God, and it is a female." It teaches both male and female, with male as the lesser.

It denies the authority of God the Father as King of Kings.
It denies the authority of Christ as Prince of Peace.

Matthew 6:24 says it clearly, ""No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other."

1 Kings 18:21 Elijah came near to all the people and said, "How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." But the people did not answer him a word.

James 4:4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
I love people start threads and don't invite the person involved in the first post - lol.

This is beating a dead horse. You cling to your desire to be under the law and under things. Great. Have at. I'll cling to my understanding of Christ and grace. That's my way that has been provided to me by Him.

Calling people "un-christian" or "not christian" because they dont' subscribe to your specific doctrinal beliefs is not okay morally OR in this area (if you read the rules there are specific phrases NOT to be used... these are some of them).

Quick note- that was actually my fault- I split the thread from the larger thread in E&M, and her post happened to be the first one which was moved, so it shows up as the first one in the new thread.

And I always thought that Sunday was the Sabbath because it is the day to honor deus sol invictus.
you know, I'm not sure if that is coincidence or if the church took that over as they did Christmas and Easter to sway pagans and keep them in their traditions without them worshiping their own gods...??? Some explain that the lord was raised on sunday because he rose 3 days after burial (which was rushed due to the Jewish sabbath coming) but no telling.
