  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hey all...

Lately i have just been really down, like not while im around others but when im by myself i just tend to start feeling depressed and pessimistic...:sigh::(

I dont really have much in my life to be sad about, notbeing pussed around, everythings fine.

The only thing it could be is my dog died in the holidays but it didnt really hit me that hard because she ran away like for weekends and then magically found its way back.

Any thoughts?

:sorry: thanks in advance

God bless,
Mike

This happens to so many people.
Sometimes it is because of the loss of someone that we love, like your dog. So, in the midst of feeling sad and it is okay to feel sad about the loss of your dog. Just know that the Holy Spirit comforts us through these times and when you feel like you are ready to move on and you are tired of being depressed, then bring to the Father a sacrifice of praise. God will meet you where you are at and overshadow you with His joy and strength. You will see a way out.

Hebrews 13:15
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

God has done this for me every single time that I have faced something hard. Put your hope in Him and His love and trust Him. He will bring you joy and that strength when you need it. Just ask Him.

I am sorry that you are gong through this. I am going to pray for you.

Arr I feel your sadness. Losing a dog is like losing a person. I am a great animal lover and it usually takes me a long time to get over one of my animals when they die. I could cry for you. Please try not to be depressed. I think you are just very very sad. You miss your dog.

God sees you and He will comfort you. Try to feel loved by everyone on here. It doesnt take away the pain but we are here for you and we understand what you are going through.

All my love to you, Jacqui. x

Hi mike.
sorry bout your pet.Thats is sad.
I lost my pommie too.I had her for bout 10 yrs.

You can help yourdelf out of that dark place,as I call it.
I had them during the holidays.

I had to keep putting one foot in front of the other.Staying busy, thinking positive, reading Gods word, listning to christian praise n worship CDs.

Its not easy,but praise God
"I can do all things though Christ Jesus who strengthend me"
"Greater is He thats in me than he that is in the world"

Script like that helped me get though it.

Your in my prayers
God be with you

Hang in there Mike. Sometimes things like this happen and we dont really know why we feel the way we do. All I can say is that Jesus, is our comfortor and our strength. If you are upset about your pet...then find you rest in God.

But if this feeling gets worse or doesnt get any better. Then maybe you should tell your doctor.

I found that studying christianity out more helped me get perspective. There is christian persecution going on, and actually studying and reading about such hard things really helped me remember God can help us even in such hard things. One book is called "Tortured for Christ" you can read written from a pastor who suffered hardships for evangelizing under communism. you can find his book from www.persecution.com. or even you can read books like Jesus Freaks (the one with Voice of the Martyrs ministry), or even Foxe's Book of Martyrs (but this has a Protestant slant, if you are catholic, maybe not this one so much).

studying christian history of persecutions helped me. I know it sounds strange for depression, but it helps bring perspective to see suffering and God's triumph in such things.

Dear Michael2308

Often times we feel depressed and don't really know why. I think losing your dog is a real possability. It's losing a very close friend.

But we also need to take into concideration the stress a man of 17 experences. You are inbetween home and going out on your own and sometimes just being locked in that position can have that effect.

Stay close to JESUS and talk to HIM in prayer as that is were we receive our strength.

Be aware of receiving false advice from others no matter how good the their intent my be. For example these words may sound well and good:

" Just know that the Holy Spirit comforts us through these times "

and many are mislead into this belief, but they are NOT GOD'S TRUTH. In order for us to be COMFORTED with the HOLY SPIRIT we MUST first be ANOINTED.

It is very important for you to keep reading GOD'S WORD as that is where we obtain our TRUTH and STRENGTH.

ALWAYS REMEMBER:

“ Believe “ in Greek is a verb and has three components which are: hearing, accepting, and then acting ( COMMITING ) upon that which you have accepted.

How are others to know why you're down if you're not? But I would guess it's something in your relationship with God. Drifting without a prevailing purpose in your life can leave you so as well. Which goes back to God. You cant be right with God and be depressed. Rite now Im depressed and Im not right with Him. Even in the exact same situation, I can have joy and if not joy peace when I'm walking with Him. Im here coz Im putting off what I know I should do coz Im feeling very disgusted, hurt, sad, angry tho I shouldnt be, and more, and Im giving into such feelings.

We must give the Lord ourselves to be taken up with a purpose greater than ourselves and be thrilled with Him

Dear Allthatisgone

" You cant be right with God and be depressed. "

This can be far from the TRUTH. You have little knowledge of depression.

Depression can be a chemical imbalance of the brain. It's called mental illness. I was in clinical depression where I wanted to take my life as I am bipolar 1.

It was ONLY GOD that saved me.

This is VERY IMPORTANT for you to understand in life in case you run into depression or others that have depression. What most folks call depression is liken to a sneeze compared to a life and death situation.

Hope this helps.

Depression can be a chemical imbalance of the brain.
Right. And chemical imbalances of what's put into your body result in imbalances of the chemicals your body produces from them. Junk in junk out, as the computer nerds tell us. 'You are what you eat' applies just as much to the brain as every other organ - even more so, because the chemical processes are immensely more sophisticated. Just as some people's genes make their physical health more vulnerable to the effects of certain chemicals or lack of them (e.g. hereditary diabetes, lactose intolerance), some people have genes that make their mental health more vulnerable to them. Hence depression seems to run in families, but not absolutely.

Strongly recommend you check out this site and get tested for deficiencies, toxicities and metabolic abnormalities. Even if these aren't the cause of these symptoms, you'd be amazed at how much better you feel in various ways when you keep balanced the chemicals you're consuming. :)

Hope this helps...

The man's dog died, Depression is a "normal" response to loss. It is the length that helps to determine "Clinical" depression.
I must be honest the use of the word depresson/depressed was incorrect...its just been a nagging sadness that it grieving.

Any-hoo, feeling a bit better and i defenitely think it was my dogs that was causing this.

We had a thunderstorm 2nite and she would always be scared and you would have to hide her/ hold her, she spent many a night shivering in my bed....

Grieving will take the sadness away, the more i talk about it the more at ease with it i get.

Mike
